Lost radio ticket

Post by Me262 »

So I can't find my radio ticket licence (wish they would just make a page in the booklet for it).

Anyway, do I need to contact TC? I assume they would have me in the system.

You need to contact Industry Canada (I assume why it is not in the TC ADB...). I forget if they had a webpage or if it just took an email to get a replacement sent. No cost around fifteen years ago.

I lost my Restricted Operator Certificate - Aeronautical (ROC-A) and would like a new copy. How do I go about getting a copy mailed to me? Is there a fee?
You may submit a request to have your certificate reprinted to the Radio Operator Certificate Service Centre (ROCSC) via email, telephone or the web service "Request a Certificate Reprint" on the Professional Radio Operators Services page (If you have not already created a user account you can do so from the My Account page). There is no fee for replacing your certificate.

Like virtually all government departments, a complete name change is required every few years. Industry Canada is now called
Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada

Gives contact info for local offices Canada wide. Grey Wolf may be more accurate than me here, I put mine through the washing machine a decade ago and they (Industry Canada) printed me a new one for free. Yes a government department with no fee. Incredible.

Honestly TC issuing even a PPL should automatically assume a radio ticket was gained (it's a pre-req no?) and no longer the need for it.

Nope, it's not a prerequisite (you can check out the CARs for what is required for a PPL). It's only needed to communicate on aviation radio frequencies (similar to the ROC-M for maritime operations). In theory, you could do all your training at an ATF and only fly in uncontrolled airspace your entire life and never touch a radio.
