license conversion question

Post by thm35 »

Hi all. I know that license conversion questions have been covered multiple times here, but I can't find the answer to this one.

Is the instrument rating baked into the FAA ATP? Specifically, when I go to write my ACH knowledge test (ATPL-H to FAA ATP), does the instrument rating ride along, or do I need to write an additional knowledge test (ICH) on top of it?

Thanks.

Not sure about the helicopter side but assuming it’s the same it’s baked in as long as you have a current and valid instrument rating on your Canadian license. When I wrote my ACM exam and converted they included my type ratings and instrument rating on my FAA license.

Having done the conversion for both FAA ATP Rotorcraft and Commercial Multi-Engine Instrument Airplane, yes - your IR will ride along when you write both ACH and ACM. Only in the case of converting a commercial license will you have to write the AKT for both the commercial and instrument rating.

Yes. IR is a requirement to hold a FAA ATP. So it comes with the conversion. No further tests. Just the conversion ATP test.
