Air Transat help!

Post by 1000tolevel »

Can anyone help me out with the interview for Air Transat??

I have the interview in 3 weeks and haven't found any real info on it. I am sure that there are some TS pilots on this forum. A little info would help a lot. This would be my final career destination and any help I can get to secure the position will be greatly appreciated.

I am also looking for salary info (I heard $65K to start)... But I heard there has been a new CBA signed with pay increase....

Of the 3 domiciles (YVR, YYZ, YUL) which one is the most senior?

Airline Pilot Central has no data whatsoever on them.

Please help!

Thanks in advance

Listen you arrogant little prick, he was asking about the actual INTERVIEW. Not asking about the company.
Now get back to the training forum.

182 Before you make a post..... Write them down on paper! Read the paper about ten times. If you still feel it is a good post, then put it on the forum.

If intelligent questions are continued to be answered by dipshits no one will post anything worth reading anymore.

It sounds to me like you should be the one asking the questions not answering them.

2 cents.

here is some info on TS....
their planes are packed like sardine boxes, and your knees will touch the front seat... they run out of fuel across the pond...and get award for best glider...
they have a blue star fish on the tail of their planes,..
they park at T3...
they pay better than AC.. WHO DOES NOT? JAZZ?
they are a tour operator...fly to PARIS in the summer...
but on a serious note...
Air Transat was founded by former Quebecair employees in December 1986 as an off-shoot of Trafic Voyages. It made its inaugural flight on November 14, 1987, travelling from Montreal to Acapulco. Six years later, Air Transat assumed defunct Nationair's maintenance base and aircraft. Today, the company books 2.5 million passengers a year. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Transat A.T. Inc., specializing in organizing, marketing, and distributing vacation travel and packages. The organization comprises tour operators based in Canada and France. Today Air Transat is one of Canada's largest airlines.

FOR SURE WE ONLY HAVE A HAND FULL!!!

On 14 July 2006, Air Transat announced that it had signed an agreement to acquire British tour operator The Airline Seat Company for £20.4 million (approximately C$42.8 million). Between 1995 and 2006 The Airline Seat Company established a large proportion of its business under the banner of Canadian Affair, a tour operator and agent for charter flights between the UK and Canada.

what else?
Air Transat is an airline based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, operating scheduled and charter flights and serving 90 destinations in 25 countries. The airline is owned and operated by Transat A.T. During the summer season its main destinations are Europe and domestic flights within Canada and in the winter season the Caribbean, Mexico, USA and South America. It is the designated carrier between Canada and Cuba. Its main bases are Toronto Pearson International Airport, Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport and Vancouver International Airport, with hubs at Halifax International Airport and Québec/Jean Lesage International Airport.

and ? well the basic: Services

Air Transat specializes in charter flights from several Canadian and European cities to vacation destinations, mainly in the south during the winter months and in Europe during the summer. It also operates scheduled services as follows (as of January 2005):

* Domestic scheduled destinations: Montreal, Quebec and, Toronto.

* International scheduled destinations: Amsterdam, Acapulco, Athens, Bordeaux, Brussels, Camaguey, Cancun, Cayo Coco, Cayo Largo, Faro, Fort-de-France, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Hamburg, Holguin, Ixtapa, La Ceiba, La Romana, Lisbon, London-Gatwick, Lyon, Madrid, Managua, Manchester, Manzanillo (CU), Manzanillo (MX), Marseilles, Montego Bay, Nantes, Nice, Panama City, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Pointe-à-Pitre, Porlamar, Port-au-Prince, Porto, Puerto Plata, Puerto Vallarta, Punta Cana, Rome-Fiumicino, San Andres Island, San Jose, San Salvador, Santa Clara, Santiago, Santo Domingo, St. Maarten, Toulouse, Varadero
* It inaugurated nonstop service Montreal-Madrid on May 2006. It now operates a weekly flight departing Montreal on Monday and Madrid on Tuesday. On June 2006 it will add a 2nd weekly flight departing Montreal on Friday and Madrid on Saturday. Both frequencies will use an Airbus A310-300 and the Mon/Tue rotation originates and terminates in Toronto.

Fleet

The Air Transat fleet consists of the following aircraft (as of April 2006):

* 11 Airbus A310-300
* 3 Airbus A330-200
* 1 Airbus A330-300

As of March 2006, Air Transat fleet average age is 13 years old.

Historical Fleet

* Boeing 737
* Boeing 757
* Boeing 727
* Lockheed L-1011 TriStar

for your own info,haha don't bring that up but it is good to know the followings....
Incidents and accidents

* On August 24, 2001, Air Transat Flight 236, en route from Toronto to Lisbon with 306 crew and passengers, had to make an emergency landing in the Azores without engine power after running out of fuel over the Atlantic ocean. The aircraft safely landed at Lajes Air Base, on the island of Terceira. The aircraft was evacuated in 90 seconds. None of the 306 passengers and crew were seriously injured in the incident. The cause of the fuel loss was an incompatible component - designed for a different type of aircraft - installed the plane's fuel system by an Air Transat maintenance worker.

* On March 6, 2005, on an Air Transat flight en route from Cuba to Quebec, using an Airbus A310-300 with 9 crew and 261 passengers on board, most of the rudder separated during the cruise. The crew became aware of the problem and returned to Varadero, Cuba, where they made a safe landing. The reason for the rudder structural failure is still under investigation. It has been established that no unusual rudder inputs had been used by the crew during the flight, they were not manipulating the rudder when it failed and there was no obvious fault in the rudder or yaw-damper system (ref: Flight International, July 2005).

B-777 good job with your description but you forgot about the bases in YYC and YEG.. No biggy.. But worth mentioning..

You also didn't mention the midnight paintjobs for the ex nationair 757's that suddenly became transat machines... Kind of a funny story actually..

One other note is that the problem with 236 was caused by a pre mod/post mod problem with fuel and hydrualic lines and that all parts were actually designed for the 330.. Just not made to be mixed.. PM me if you want to know more.. After that, there was a problem with the checklist and then it just snowballed from there...

Great company unless you have to deal with the western Canada maintenance manager.. He's a dickhead.. IMHO

I haven't been around there for a while so maybe things have changed.. I don't know though.. If you are talking about the crazy dutchman, he was great compared to the one I'm talking about.. PM me so I don't have to mention things on here that would get the site in trouble..

Thanks a lot everyone for all the info, especially B777.

However I am looking for someone who works there to give me an insight on the Company, like things that you can't find online.

Thanks all.

Some great information here about Air Tranat. Just out of curiousity, is it an absolute necessity to be bilingual?
