Notice to Air….Flight Service!
What is it with you guys spitting out the ATIS faster than an auctioneer on meth? Spare a thought for us poor souls on the other end of the line trying to write things down so we get it all without having to listen two or three times.
(Looking at you, Prince George tower, and Nanaimo radio!)

Re: Notice to Air….Flight Service!
There should be a rule that the ATIS identifier should be repeated at least once every 10 seconds.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Notice to Air….Flight Service!
Atis for runway conditions should be on a seperate local vhf freq. in busy terminal airspace freq. Im sure many would agree. By the time ya all get to the end of an atis message in a busy terminal space . Even if yur 100miles from the approach , the atis with runway conditions is far toooo fkn long ( takes alot to get oldn cold riled ) we want to know wind / altimeter / vis/ceiling/pressure to update the fms to set up for briefing to approach n landing all the while. Stayn on top of up to 7 freq changes / yes thats the job > but waitn 2 min while the atis drones on thru 2or 3 non active or wont be cleared to land on runways. Major pain

For taxi-out, absolutely. I can see the sky condition out my window, set the altimeter to field elevation, and he’s going to tell me the wind on initial contact anyways…
Re: Notice to Air….Flight Service!
That's funny. Nanaimo radio are generally the most chilled out Nav Can employees around, and I find their ATIS is generally pretty easy to get the 3 or 4 bits of info needed. Last summer I landed there and switched over to ground and it took a while for the guy to reply...when he did, it sounded like we had woken him up from his afternoon nap. Victoria Terminal are a bit quicker, and I've had to ask them to repeat themselves a few times.mmm...bacon wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 6:03 pm What is it with you guys spitting out the ATIS faster than an auctioneer on meth?
