Transport Canada suing
Yes, you read that right. Transport Canada is suing the District of Muskoka (owner operator of CYQA Muskoka Airport) and papers are filed.
The reason appears total mismanagement, harassment of tenants, ignoring the conditions in tenant leases and the abusive use of their authority on the tenants. If Transport Canada is successful they now have the option to take back ownership and control of the airport. For Transport Canada to take this on, one would think that they have done their homework. Some pilots and tenants think CYQA is the worst run airport in Canada with a budget gone crazy i.e. Porter Airlines scheduled service considered total failure but oh my $$$$$$$$$$
Interesting how this will end and perhaps the effect it will have on the other 70+ airports divested in the mid 90's. I understand the Transport Minister at the time, was more recently quoted that it was the worst decision he made to pass off the airports to the Municipalities.
Can anyone add to this?

Re: Transport Canada suing
Some municipal run airports are okay. Most are an abomination bent on destroying Canadian aviation and driving away business from the cities they serve.
Nobody can afford to hangar their plane, landing fees, parking fees are out of control. No support for local when everyone is gone.
People on border towns are keeping their planes in the US. That means no Canadian fuel truck drivers, mechanics, rental cars, restaurants. Everything that goes with traveling by plane is now in the US instead of Canadian industry.

Any link to further information or details? I can't find anything on the net but if anyone else has further info (or can do better searches than me) it would be greatly appreciated.ruddersup? wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 5:14 am Yes, you read that right. Being stupid around airplanes is a capital offence and nature is a hanging judge!

Re: Transport Canada suing
Transport Canada is actually doing something? I wouldn’t be worried about being sued. It’s inconceivable they would be able to file the papers by the deadline.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself
Re: Transport Canada suing
In the absence of any evidence I find the details of this thread really difficult to believe.

Someone had the guts to challenge Transport Canada and the Municipality of Muskoka

Sorry to hear that, hope it works out for you! It sure is a nice airport you've got there! Would be a shame if it keeps being mismanagedruddersup? wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 5:14 am Yes, you read that right. As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Bede - you mean the 57 pages plus the 300 pages of answer to demands? Yup

Well I guess you have my attention now. Do you have it in PDF? Can you post/DM?

Bede - I've been "advised" not at this time. Sorry, 8 years of hell and I want to scream but..........
Re: Transport Canada suing
I got my hands on the pleadings. It's not at all what you're making it out to be. TC isn't suing anyone. Someone is suing TC and TC filed a third party claim saying, essentially, "we're not at fault but if we are it's actually Muskoka's fault".
