Hey guys, how are you all doing. Ok so here it goes - am considering starting flight school in about a months time. Lookin for a flight school in the Vancouver Area preferably Boundary Bay.

After doing ALOT of research i decided PRO IFR seemed like my best option. Recently i came accross Pacific Flying Club, so to finalise my decision i need your personal experience and input on both these schools.

have you checkout Canadian Flight Centre, as well? Right beside PFC.

But between the two, I would do VFR at PFC, and IFR at Pro.

Pro is excellent, but like everywhere else they are struggling to get experienced instructors at the moment!

Itys more important you find an instructor you like, and can easily understand, rather than which school you prefer. At least for your private anyways!

Hey guys, thanks. I think you are rite... Some Air Canada pilots have told me the same thing. Your Instructor will have more of a difference than your school. I have done my demo @ PRO and i was very impressed, i think will do one @ Pacific n see how that goes.

Yep...let it be about matching personality with your instructor.

I like Pro's top dude JM cuz he's so energetic and so is their fleet of 14(?) Their up and going like a hornet's nest from dawn to dusk.

PFC's buzzing only half as much but with a larger fleet. I guess their flying limits are quite conservative but then the CFI is Canada's top safety instructor award this year and they're in partnership with BCIT.

Take a fam or two and find a suitable instructor.

I work at one of those schools, we do have a tonn of students coming from the other one to finish training for one reason or another. I imagine this is probably going both ways.

Your instructor matters WAY more than the school you work for. That said, you want the supervising instructors to have your best interest at heart. You don't want a new class 4 wasting tonns of your $$$ while the supervisor should be stepping in. That said, most class 4 instructors are more energetic and eager than an 'experienced' (and sometimes complacent instructor).

Im a student at PFC/BCIT - my 2cents, its really great, the people are super sweet and helpful - PM if you have any questions

Find two instuctors one from each school and make them fight to the death, this will do two things you will see how dedicated they are and create an employment oportunity for someone.

I will say that TP from pro teaches the best ground school i've ever sat in, hands down. Beyond that, it totally depends on your instructor. Pro has a lot of new ones lately, and their higher-time instructors have poor availability I've found. But there's a few in the middle that could be ok (I have no personal experience with them). I've never worked with PFC so I can't comment on them.
