New hire domicile

Post by Freetime »

Where is the most likely base for new hires right now? Is there any rhyme or reason as to where new hires are likely to be based?

Have a look at the OTS and "how long till you hear back" threads for more details. But long story short - YYZ. Sounds like mostly NB FO and WB RP.

They assign you a position in Toronto and you go through training and line indoc. Then you bid a different base, usually on a different aircraft, and you go through training and line indoc again.

Not true at all. Towards the end of the first week of PIT, they present a list of available positions and bases. You draw seniority, then the following week you bid and at the end of the week, the bid results are awarded in class. YWG is never offered as it is a very small base and very senior and movement is sparse. At the moment I believe YYZ, and YUL are always available, and YVR is hit and miss each course.

Both of you are correct in your own rights. I created a Google doc of all the PIT assignments since May 2023 (lost the data prior unfortunately.) AC had a few squirts of yvr 737 (up to 8 positions) in the fall but the last few pits have been all yyz with a sprinkle (around 4) yul positions.
Wb fo hasn't been seen since the summer with two 330 yul fo offered one time after that.
Expect continued filling of RP and NB FO as those internally are trained upwards.
