Applied for cat 1 medical, got cat 3
Hello, I am new to aviation, planning to go commercial so I did my category 1 medical exam as my initial medical certification, my doctor said he does not see any reason why I would not pass, two weeks go by, and my cat 3 medical arrives in the mail, is this something they do or was there some sort of error?

Hey,
Likely an error in the system somehow. I'd recommend contacting the CAME you did the medical with first, then TC. Always best to try calling TC, they rarely pick up, emails in my experience get quicker replies. The various contacts for TC Regional Offices can be found at the bottom of this page: https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/civil- ... n_medicine
They likely will ask for your file number which should be on the CAT 3 you received in the top right or left corner.

It’s likely just an admin error.Zillocybin wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 1:46 pm Hello, I am new to aviation, planning to go commercial so I did my category 1 medical exam as my initial medical certification, my doctor said he does not see any reason why I would not pass, two weeks go by, and my cat 3 medical arrives in the mail, is this something they do or was there some sort of error?
I had the same thing a couple months ago. I checked that the CAME had submitted it as Class 1, and then contacted TC Aviation Medical through their web form. Got a Class 1 a few days later.
