What's the likelihood of those positions being filled with pilots already at Porter? Are there any pilots presently commuting from YVR?

There are pilots who currently commute from YVR. I don’t know if there are 17 of them. Fortune would favor the ones who got in early but there may be some space available. Hard to know until the results are out

I met a PD commuter just last week who is patiently waiting for the actual yvr roster to come out. Sounds like there's a lot of people in line especially ex Lynx pilots. It sounds like most if not all of the people currently on the seniority list who bid for yvr will get it, but beyond that it's uncertain if many more will be needed.

Are not all captains kept right seat qualified at Porter? All it takes is an extra 15 minutes in the sim every recurrent.

Considering the average one bedroom rental in Vancouver is like $2800/month I wonder if any of the transfers actually live there, or if it’s more so commuters from YEG/YYC.

On the E2 we endeavour to train all the captains for the right seat. It doesn't always happen though due to other circumstances but eventually we get everyone. I would imagine at some point in the future there won't be as much of a need so I'm sure it'll stop eventually.

When launching a massive new type fleet expansion generally the idea is to hire heavy on the captain side first. Then chase up with the FO list. So there’s more CAs than FOs.

Typically blocks are constructed with two captains but let’s say an FO calls in sick and they have no more FOs to call, then guess what, they’re calling a captain.

Good CRM would discuss this threat in the briefing as to establish who is the actual pilot in command .

I think there was a massively lopsided roster on the E2 at one point, it was way more captains than a FOs. I do believe it's changing now.

The first number of ground schools were exclusively captains I believe. They've definitely focussed on evening it out in the last year or so.
