Isn't the Embraer the fleet type with the largest staffing problems?

As I understand it, 15 of the Express 175’s are owned by AC and 10 are subleased through AC. The value of a 19 year old first generation 175 cannot be that much.

If AC wanted to attrit the Express 175 fleet then wouldn’t it make more sense to simply not renew some (or all) of the leases? Another clue is when (or if) the previously announced interior retrofits actually happen. Nobody makes a capital commitment to a departing airframe, particularly if non-owned.

The fact that there are no orders for replacements at Express and clearly articulated fleet reductions in 2024 and 2025 tells you all that you need to know. 2026 will not be pretty. Fleet guarantee is just 80 airframes.

If true , I also imagine that the common type rating to the E2 may have something to do with jazz not trying to keep these things going for ages.

Well, 8P might be looking for some work after their CPA with WS ends in the Fall, or maybe a dark horse like 9M may want to give it a shot too. I'm not entirely convinced signing up for a CPA agreement with a network carrier is always such a good idea, never mind if it's ever a profitable venture.

Pasco flies saabs. CMA has dash 8s but not Q4. I don’t think jazz or More importantly AC, is interested in the west coast.

CPAs can be a guaranteed revenue stream, but also very problematic. I’m frankly not convinced on either side of this argument. I personally think that AC will run as little as possible in the west while connecting pax in the east to yyz.

5 175s are not being sold. In the end it will be 25 175s, 30 CRJ900s and 25 Q400s. Not sure why this is a surprise as it was the plan in the CPA for years to reduce to 80 aircraft.

Doubtful that AC will need the feed from the 14 Q400s being parked. There is a lot of mainline capacity coming online in the next few years.
