What are some of your thoughs of crossing the picket line for Main line pilots, since Ecore issued a strike notice. As per CBA, WestJet pilots are legally obligated to report for work well rested and on time even if it means crossing the Encore pilots’ picket line.
I will always support my Encore collegues, but I'm still on probation. What would be the best course of action?

Re: Picket line etiquette for mainline
Fellow Pilots,
Our brothers and sisters at WestJet Encore have voted down TA1 and, as of this Wednesday afternoon, have issued a 72-hour notice to strike. The notice has been delivered for possible work action this coming Saturday at 6pm MT. The WestJet MEC wishes to convey that all WestJet pilots stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters at Encore.
Pilots are reminded that since our collective agreement is currently in force, WestJet pilots are legally obligated to report for work well rested and on time even if it means crossing the Encore pilots’ picket line.
Our pilots should keep in mind that picket lines are often emotionally charged places. Any pilot who encounters difficulty crossing a picket line or feels that it is unsafe to do so, should report their delay or their concerns directly to their MLO or designate.
It is management’s responsibility to ensure safe passage of individual workers through the picket line.
Our pilots should also know that since the law differs between Canada and the United States, the “struck work” provisions of ALPA’s Strike Policy as set out in Section 65 of the ALPA Administrative Manual do not apply to those pilots who are not employed by the carrier on strike.
WestJet pilots who are not on duty or engaged in a required rest period may lend their support to the Encore pilots picketing activities. Such members are asked to coordinate their activities with the local Encore strike captain and to not display their RAIC or WestJet identification while participating in picketing activities; full WestJet uniform is acceptable.
As a way to show our solidarity, we have bag tags and pins available at both the WJA ALPA office on the 7th floor of the Airport Corporate Centre as well as in the WEN Stike centre on the 2nd floor of the Airport Corporate Centre. Please come by and pick them up and wear them to support our Encore brothers and sisters.
