should I call them?

Post by tbone »

HI.. looking for some advice (what have I opened myself up to!??) I interviewed at AC about 2 months ago. I have not heard from them at all (I understand that they are backed up with filling classes etc.). I recently interviewed with another Canadian company (a charter company, who shall remain nameless at this time.. a good company, pays well, and flies good equipment). I obviously would LOVE to work for AC. The other thing that I should mention is that I'm currently flying for a regional carrier in the states (some of you would say, "why do you want to fly for AC if you have a job in the states" the answer is, I am sick of the commute, and my airline flies only one jet, and although it has a lot of growth, the pay/growth etc. is not as good long term as AC.. besided I want to fly at home.. I'm Canadian )
SO... what I'm asking is, do you think a polite call to someone in the recruiting department asking for an update would be out of the question. I am thinking of telling them I've been offered another job (not in a "WAH.. I got offered another job.. you should bend over now to hire me" sort of attitude) telling them I very much want to fly for AC. Surely they would not get too mad at a person making a reasonable request, before making a decision to take another job. I have a feeling that many of you are going to say that if I call them I'll get the dreaded "thanks but no thanks" letter immediately, but I would like to think they would not act so punatively. Some people have said that they'll just say' "FINE, go take the other job.. we're better" but I personally doubt it.. I think they are more professional than that if I handle the inquiry professionally. THoughts? Thanks.

Your call... some say yes some say no. Had a friend who called 2 weeks ago and got the call last week. I think the call was coming anyway. I dont think it has any influence on your position. They have a pool when people are taken out it is restocked... No call means your score is not in the top (however many) they need to refill the pool.

Good luck....

Take the other job and if AC calls, then just quit the other one. Airlines treat pilots like crap all the time so don't dwell over it.

Just fax an update in the evening followed by a next morning phone call. The fax may get them to pull out your file to see who you are, and the phone call will answer the question for you. Good luck.

Anyone know how the point system work? Does the interview hold more points than the cog or the other tests. Does it go as far as flight time, education etc for additional points?

Thanks
