YYC Parking
Hey avcanada community, I'm wondering if anyone would have any insight into parking a vehicle at YYC? Is there any ways that any of you commuter folk save money by parking somewhere else and using an Uber? Feel free to PM me if you have anything helpful for a guy starting out as FO. TIA

The bus haha
My parking was paid for so, can't help you out there. Sorry! Does your employer pay for vehicle travel? Per Diem, etc.? I do know (have taken in the past) a shuttle and depending where you live, it was about 20 bucks or so.
Good luck!

Re: YYC Parking
I have heard that if your company operates into YYC, it is possible to get parking in the employee lot for around 75$ a month. I would inquire with the airport authority regarding this. I’m sure their website has a phone number.Royler wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 5:47 pm Hey avcanada community, I'm wondering if anyone would have any insight into parking a vehicle at YYC? Most companies cover parking, or at least provide a stipend. Maybe a phone call to your management will shed some light

Imagine being on flat pay for 4 years. I thought you were going back to work for bearskin. Free parking in YXL.

Re: YYC Parking
It is a taxable benefit...
Another option is if your company has an account with a local hotel, most of them have yyc shuttles, you may be able to park at the hotel and take it. Potentially even your rewards account may help. I know the hotels in yyz have a parking/ shuttle option.
Re: YYC Parking
A what? You can’t even deduct it? How is paying for something a benefit?
I like using my rewards for my own purposes. Parking should either be free or 100% expensible.Another option is if your company has an account with a local hotel, most of them have yyc shuttles, you may be able to park at the hotel and take it. Yep, and it’s f’ing expensive and certainly not a long term solution. Heck most of the hotels near major Canadian airports make big money off their parking lots.co-joe wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 1:16 pmIt is a taxable benefit...

I too mirror “Bob” sentiments that the onus should be on the employer to provide suitable parking for their employees.
To the OP, have you thought about listing an ad in the local paper or even FB market place looking for a parking spot within a reasonable distance from the terminal by Uber?
TPC
Just a thought…
Re: YYC Parking
I forgot to put sarcasm on that one. Bearskin and Air Canada sound equally unappealing so I will never work for either.CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 12:13 pmImagine being on flat pay for 4 years. I thought you were going back to work for bearskin. Free parking in YXL.
Re: YYC Parking
That’s the reality for pretty much every person that works for any business in a downtown location. So they either take the bus or pay for their own parking in a lot as close as reasonable (depending on their willingness to pay) to their office. Just curious, but why should aviation be different?
Being stupid around airplanes is a capital offence and nature is a hanging judge!

Re: YYC Parking
Another option, hear me out here... All airlines provide free parking to their FAs. There's quite a few of them that don't own cars and either take the bus or Uber for early mornings. Maybe you knew one, you could work out a cash deal for their parking pass. Maybe start on one of the crash pad groups on social media that cater to commuters...

Edit: let me rephrase: does flair provide free parking at airport parking lots and not ones across a highway from an airport

Re: YYC Parking
All airlines certainly do NOT provide free parking. What they do provide is the ability to opt out of the employer paid taxable benefit. However if you do decide to opt out, you are not provided with any pass or raic assigned entry into any of the lots. In the past I have been able to keep my taxable benefit lot at home base while my commuting based parking was personally paid.co-joe wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 7:25 am Another option, hear me out here... Nothing is free in aviation!

You didn’t answer the question: does flair have their crew park at their offices then drag their luggage across a busy highway to terminal 3?co-joe wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 7:34 amYou don't seems to miss a single opportunity to make this about your hatred of Flair do you?CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 8:58 pm

Also, I don’t think it’s ONLY MY hatred,
considering the amount of flair people that are now at porter and tell me their stories.

I've met a few, but most came here when PD didn't have jets, and now that we pay more, nobody has quit so we haven't been hiring.CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 9:49 am Curious as to how many people quit porter to go to flair
