Experience Transferring Application

Post by YYZTom »

Hello,

I have accepted an offer to start IFR training in the YYZ region in the next few months. However, a large life change has occurred which has made it so that I must return to BC as soon as possible and stay for at least a couple years. Does anyone have any experience trying to transfer their region at this point in the process? Will they make me retest or reinterview? Is delaying my course for a couple of years an option?

I know the answer is to email them and I will, but I was wondering if anyone had some information on this through personal experience.

I've heard of deferring a course for 6 months but not more than a year. Keep in mind that just because you have an offer now doesn't preclude more competitive applicants from materializing later.

Transferring an offer isn't really a thing. You can ask, they might say no. You are coming from YYZ which is one of the most competitive regions in the area. Theoretically this should improve your chances vs. other FIRs.

I would suggest telling HR about your specific predicament. Offers given in the Vancouver FIR may be for the new training facility in Montreal.

You can still ask.
