ATPL Minimum Requirements
So I am looking at ATPL minimums... I know about the 25hr Night XC PIC and the 75hr of Instrument, but i wasn't aware of the 100hr of Night Total Time. Is this something that has changed recently? Or has this always been the minimums? Just took me by surprise when I read it, that's all...

Re: ATPL Minimum Requirements
Got your answer right there. Been that way since at least the year 2000. Best to get your 25hr night PIC x-cntry before moving on to your first 703/705 job. The total night hours you can build at the job, but you don't want to be in an airline seat still having to go rent a 152 from your local flight school trying to get your PIC hours.aholenstein wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 3:46 pm The total flight time shall include a minimum of:

Re: ATPL Minimum Requirements
Or maybe his airline seat can support him paying for the 25 night x-country.
Probably not…
Yet???
So do your time building at night. You only gotta go 25Nm to call it cross country. That’s like driving to Hamilton from Toronto.
And there’s so many lights on the ground, it’ll feel like day VFR,

Re: ATPL Minimum Requirements
The requirement for 100 night was there when I got my atpl back in the 80's. It was the hold up for a lot of folks that started out in the biz flying floaters where you cant legally get night time. I knew a few folks with multiple thousands in the book that took a job flying night freight in a 'ho just to get the 100 night so they could get that atpl.aholenstein wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 3:46 pm but i wasn't aware of the 100hr of Night Total Time. Re: ATPL Minimum Requirements
Medevacs will get you your night time in a hurry, I had more night than day when my ATPL was signed off.
Re: ATPL Minimum Requirements
Retarded requirements that add nothing to the ATPL experience compared to EASA 500hrs PICUS and 1300hrs logged in the right seat of the aircraft you are going to upgrade to capt to anyway. Good job TCCaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 3:32 am Or maybe his airline seat can support him paying for the 25 night x-country.

Re: ATPL Minimum Requirements
I know of several Air France pilots who would have benefited from some solo time in a Cessna 172.

It’s become so easy to express a gripe and stereotype an entire organization. *Disclaimer* I am also occasionally guilty of doing so.Me262 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 7:26 pmRetarded requirements that add nothing to the ATPL experience compared to EASA 500hrs PICUS and 1300hrs logged in the right seat of the aircraft you are going to upgrade to capt to anyway. Honest question;
If you genuinely feel the way that you do about “TC” why not apply to work for the regulator and contribute to positive change(s)? It’s rather easy to allow a few bad apples to ruin the bushel.
Just a thought…

Because just like in any state organization (and even corporations), you are just a number and your opinion or feedback doesn't matter until you reach the top. If you are really lucky you get the "It sounds like a good idea, I'll push it to the top, thank you", and have it thrown out a few minutes/hours/days later in the trash.TeePeeCreeper wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 2:19 amIt’s become so easy to express a gripe and stereotype an entire organization. *Disclaimer* I am also occasionally guilty of doing so.Me262 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 7:26 pmRetarded requirements that add nothing to the ATPL experience compared to EASA 500hrs PICUS and 1300hrs logged in the right seat of the aircraft you are going to upgrade to capt to anyway. How many “state organizations (and even corporations)” have you worked for?
Brother, one would almost think you’d once worked for the regulator… I mean you speak with such conviction! (we both know that you are talking out of your ass)
