Category 1 Medical Extra Tests

Hello everyone, i'm studying for my PPL and needed to get a category 1 medical to take the written test. After doing tests with an aviation doctor, TC got back to me saying my ECG was "abnormal" which I found off because i'm in my mid 20's and have been playing sports all my life and go to the gym often, all of this without any major injuries or health issues. They're asking for a treadmill test and Holter surveillance. Has this happened to anyone else and is this something I need to worry about? This is new to me so I was just surprised to hear something was "abnormal" considering i'm in good health. Any feedback is appreciated!

You'll have better luck if you post in the Health & Fitness forum, this one is for Air Traffic Services.

I went through something similar during my PPL medical, where my initial ECG came back flagged despite being fit and active. It turned out to be a normal variant, and the treadmill test + Holter were just precautionary to rule things out. Try not to stress too much—this kind of follow-up is fairly common in aviation medicals. :goodman:

I have seen people that are extreemly fit. They Jogged every day played sports eat all the right food and dropped dead. Fit means nothing.

Regardless MOT seems to have changed their ways. They are asking for more tests etc. The Treadmill is better known as a stress test. I just went thru 9 months of hell with my medical. Stress tests, sleep tests amongst other things. The length of time was because they would ash for something. By the time you got a doctors appointment and they reviewed the results it would be minimum of 2 months. Then they would ask for something else. Just be happy if they ask for everything all at one time.

Good Luck
