Dash to E2 transfer after 2025

Post by FFS »

From what I understand, Porter will be moving from a guaranteed 3 Dash captains transferred per E2 class to what they call a vacancy bid after December 2025. Does anybody have any idea what that means? I find it hard to believe that it will be equal to or better than the current system. If history is any indication, then I would assume that it will be a completely inferior process to an already slow system.

I wonder if anyone has heard about any details.

December 2025, there will be a successful card drive completed and ALPA will be representing the pilots.

I'm sure the FOAG will do what they're able. ALPA will bring many times more resources to the table.

Go out there and sign a card. Ensure you get those lawyers, financial and economic experts on your team when it's decided what "vacancy bid" means, and how it's implemented.

It sounds like this change could have a significant impact on the promotion process and opportunities for Dash captains. Do you know if Porter has released specific details on how the “bid for space” will work? Will this create more intense competition among Dash captains or simply be a way for the company to be more flexible in its staffing arrangements?

No one knows the true answers to these questions. Simply put, the company will not stop the flow program, organization for the flow is out of whack, especially for captains on the dash going to the e2. The FOs it seems a little more clear, when you’re seniority number is up you’re free to go (ish), but for captains it’s a little tricky only due to the availability of captains for the dash fleet. The flow program is showing no signs of stopping. New hire FO are looking at give or take 2 years before their seniority number pops up, captains again a little more complicated but the flow is expected to continue and expected to have eventually more clarity for the captains.. hopefully

Stickman Hook Will there still be any sort of priority or preference given to current Dash captains?

This post pretty much answers your question.

No one knows. They say seniority is everything, until it is not. If someone comes in with experience as a DEC to the left seat of the DH8 than it will probably be 4-5 years before transfer.

FOs is quicker, and some DH8 Capts have flowed to E2 as FO to move over quicker and than do the upgrade program in short order.

The hole thing is a mess really.
