Should Quebec City be an Encore Base?

Should Quebec City be an Encore Base?
Quebec City would be the perfect Encore Base.
It's a city with loyal residents who don't want to leave their city and surrounding areas. Pilots and flight attendants hired there would be lifers. It's also
a more affordable place to live. This base could feed the eastern hubs from the surrounding eastern provinces.
I fear WestJet leader ship is giving Porter too much room to grow out east.
Thoughts?

Encore not flying there would be a problem.

I doubt the majority of people would be lifers there. Yes living at your base is nice, but if you can make significantly more money elsewhere, people will be tempted to leave. Perhaps they'll regret it, but they won't return to encore to start back at year 1 pay and do it all over again.
Encore also doesn't seem to want to be set up to support lifers.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

I'm not talking about people who have to start over. I'm talking future new hires who are new to the airline and from the YQB area. Believe me, if they had a solid job at home in the YQB area, they would probably stay for the long run.
Re: Should Quebec City be an Encore Base?
I understand that. I'm saying that those people will likely eventually get tempted by the bigger money at other companies and leave anyway. Once that happens they won't return even if they grow sick of the commuting, because they won't want to have start over in a seniority based system.MaxAuto wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 2:09 pmdigits_ wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 10:41 amTranslation: You live in Quebec City and would like to work for an airline there without moving?MaxAuto wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 5:29 am Quebec City would be the perfect Encore Base.

"The grass is always greener on the other side" type of thinking.
