Position Overview:
The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME)- Lead Hand is accountable to the Director of Maintenance and is responsible for maintaining aircraft to a high standard of safety while maintaining operational efficiencies. This position leads the work of one or more aircraft mechanic position. The AME- Lead Hand position plans work, assigns tasks, trains, provides priorities and is available to answer questions or troubleshoot problems on a daily basis.
Primary Responsibilities:
Personal responsibility to workplace safety and active involvement with team members ensuring use of safe practices.
Adheres to the safety accountability as per WWFC’s Safety practices and procedures.
Supervises AMEs and apprentices on specific duties assigned by the Director of Maintenance
Ensures that all maintenance procedures and inspections are carried out as per the maintenance schedule and/or the manufacturer’s maintenance manual.
Performs all maintenance activities in accordance with the applicable standards of air worthiness.
Ensures that all documentation is done according to company procedures and the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).
Responsible for preparing Maintenance monthly KPI analysis
Communicates with dispatch regarding serviceable aircraft when the Director of Maintenance is absent.
Communicates with the Director of Maintenance on tasks at hand during the shift.
Mentors and coaches apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and other entry level personnel.
Assists the Director of Maintenance with training other staff members as required.
Diagnose malfunctions or other problems in the aircraft or in mechanical components or systems including engines, hydraulic systems, flight control systems and fuel systems as per technical manuals, engineering drawings or blueprints.
Performs and/or assists with troubleshooting and rectification of defects.
Responsible for inventory management/processing
Ensures that all aeronautical products installed on all aircraft have proper certification.
Ensures that all unserviceable aeronautical products are tagged with the company unserviceable tags and placed in the quarantine area.
Accurately complete all paperwork such as service documentation, logbooks and shop logs in a timely manner
Performs various duties including engine runs and aircraft towing, as trained and authorized to do so
Helps with maintaining a clean and safe workplace including some general shop maintenance/clean up
Participate in maintenance on-call rotation and off-hour coverage as directed.
Demonstrates the Company Mission, Vision and Values Statement, policies and current standard business practices.
Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements:
Aircraft Maintenance Diploma or graduate of a recognized AMT/AME program, or holder of an AME M1 license
Minimum 3 years of experience as a licensed AME or 5+ years of full-time aircraft maintenance experience
Industry background with substantial experience in inspection and repair of fixed-wing aircraft, preferably small piston engine aircraft
Strong understanding of avionics, including electronics, digital computer systems, navigation systems, and related technologies
Proven ability to give and receive instructions effectively and delegate tasks as necessary
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
Strong mechanical aptitude
Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and management software such as Fleet Captain, Flight Schedule Pro, and NetSuite
Highly efficient with strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
Capable of handling multiple tasks in a calm and professional manner
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead a team in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
Results-driven with a strong sense of urgency and focus on meeting deadlines
Positive, self-motivated, and professional attitude with a proactive, self-starting approach
