Whats up with Flightaware??

Post by magellan »

For the past few days I've been trying to check on our planes and other medevac planes in Alberta but Flightaware isnt showing most of the flights or only one leg of the flight. It seems to be working sporadically at best. Anyone else noticing any problems?

Any chance its because they are filing under the civil ident and not a flight number or company call sign? I recall reading a string awhile back about billing issues for Nav Canada and a requirement to identify yourself upon departure to assist them in sorting out their billing problems.

Could be blocked out by default if the flight has an "M" at the end. Not all med-evac flights actually get filed with it and perhaps that why you only see some of them. There is a forum on the flightaware pages...post a question there.

I've noticed it as well. Alot of our flights show one leg only, doesn't seem to discriminate between medevac or not. Seems sporadic - I was under the assumption it was related to IFR plans but maybe not :?:

It's free--say no more! They probably disable it every now and then so you'll get p.o'd and subscribe to the commercial version.

could be the fact that you are operating in or out of an uncontrolled airport, hence they have no reporting data on you. Happens all the time with the flights in BC.

I actually did have some trouble with it for a few weeks ,trying to track flights to/from Europe. Usually would show an old flight plan (days earlier).
