waxing floats?

Post by ruddersup? »

My floats have creases on the bottom and patches - been around before me. It should leap off the water but it is very sticky and getting up to speed where it will fly is excessive.
Has anyone tried waxing the bottoms? I just did mine and will fly tomorrow but wondering if anyone out there uses this idea.

Check your rigging that is most likely the cause.
Start by measuring diagonally from the left front tip to the back right and then do the opposite.
Incorrectly rigged floats can make a huge difference because even a bit out is substantially more drag in the water.

Oh my, it's a different plane with the bottoms waxed. Got off much shorter and slower takeoff too.
All rigging is square etc.

Bottoms are no hell and addressing the creases might be next move but right now I'm very happy.
