lnav+v guidance
if my cda starts at the FAF down to MDA and I cold weather correct, will the g530w path be safe to follow? e.g. my faf alt is 2000, mda of 1000, due to low temps cwc faf is 2500 and mda is 1500, the advisory glide path should still intercept at the faf and keep me on the 3.0 path then i'll level of at 1500. the slope of the path will not change right?
how is the advisory path generated, is it similar to the lpv path? using 3d defined points in space?

The path is advisory only below the decision altitude. You can reference it, but you're supposed to be visually maneuvering to the touchdown point. Is that what you're asking?ols500 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 5:33 pm if my cda starts at the FAF down to MDA and I cold weather correct, will the g530w path be safe to follow? e.g. my faf alt is 2000, mda of 1000, due to low temps cwc faf is 2500 and mda is 1500, the advisory glide path should still intercept at the faf and keep me on the 3.0 path then i'll level of at 1500. the slope of the path will not change right?

Re: lnav+v guidance
We have published minimum temperatures on the approach plate - as long as it's not colder no corrections are required.ols500 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 5:33 pm if my cda starts at the FAF down to MDA and I cold weather correct, will the g530w path be safe to follow? e.g. my faf alt is 2000, mda of 1000, due to low temps cwc faf is 2500 and mda is 1500, the advisory glide path should still intercept at the faf and keep me on the 3.0 path then i'll level of at 1500. the slope of the path will not change right?

With temperature corrections it will be a steeper glide path with a higher FPA required from the FAF to minimums.
I'm not familiar with the G530W - your documentation for this unit should provide more info. Otherwise contact Garmin directly with your questions
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find in this business

Pretty sure the CAP says you always temperature correct the FAF and a number of others once you hit 0C (some at 10C )Eric Janson wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 3:42 amWe have published minimum temperatures on the approach plate - as long as it's not colder no corrections are required.ols500 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 5:33 pm if my cda starts at the FAF down to MDA and I cold weather correct, will the g530w path be safe to follow? e.g. my faf alt is 2000, mda of 1000, due to low temps cwc faf is 2500 and mda is 1500, the advisory glide path should still intercept at the faf and keep me on the 3.0 path then i'll level of at 1500. the slope of the path will not change right?

For the OP, on a +V you should always be checking the distance table with your altitude. But generally the path will keep you above the MDA or other step downs on "most" approaches. But, as others have said, the approach will be steeper if you have corrected for cold weather.
Re: lnav+v guidance
Is it not simpler, safer and more reasonable to just use the advisory glideslope, and level off (or start missed) at MDA+CC? The advisory glidepath won't change (it won't be steeper, as it isn't cold corrected), and you will reach MDA+CC before you normally would, but as long as you check to make sure you aren't going below any minimum step downs (after cold correcting), it shouldn't be a problem. No need to check the distance table and cold correct it IMO, as those is just advisory as well. Only the step downs are required to be cold corrected and checked, as they are hard limits (and the MDA and FAF and any other altitude limits).
