Doesnt 1200' sound alittle long for a STOL takeoff?

Probably at gross weight, 15 degrees, sea level, to 50 feet…..not exactly a slouch. I don’t know of any other twin engine, 19 seat aircraft to make that claim?

That just depends on how much government subsidy money is at stake. Lets see, a federal government that's trying hard to make it look like they dont spend all that federal money in quebec, a bc company that wants to make airplanes. All that's really needed now, is for an alberta company to pipe up and say they would like to use those new airplanes to service native communities in the arctic. That could line up plenty of political ducks, and start the money flow. Quebec isn't totally left out, the engines will still come from there.

The missing link in all this, no bones for Ontario. Thats pretty easy to solve though, with component manufacture out west, and engines out in quebec, it would make sense to do final assembly in the Toronto area.

The ducks are lining up in a row here, some nice fat juicy election promises may be in the wind, and that's what it takes to build airplanes....

If you really want to have fun with the politics of it, consider this. Downsview is more or less off limits these days, but, all it takes is one hangar at YTZ with the final assembly jigs in it. Ohhh the politics of it, the amount of newsprint that'll use up will actually be a measureable boost for the logging industry too. There's a wealth of politics available from this one...

Look at the industry overall, the manufacture of airplanes is always about the politics, rarely about the product.

I wouldn't worry about the website being up or not. The company isn't exactly undercapitalized! If they just wanted to build one for the owner, it would be done.

Sure it will be glass as it is cheaper than starting from scratch with new instruments! Whats up with the 6881lb basic aircrarft weight. Our gutted 100 series isn't that light.

If you read Viking's information the airframe will be assembled in the former SPAR hangar in Calgary, where they already have their parts storage.

The engines will be later models, riveted wings instead of bonded, optional glass cockpit and STC'd 14,000 lbs gross weight.

You sure about that? We have a brand new set of wings in our shop. Manufactured in May of this year by Viking. They are all bonded. Look just like the old ones.

Borek bought the last set of bonded wings. They bought them just alittle while ago. The wings from now on are going to be riveted.
