CRJ Wingtip Strike
C-FKJZ, a Mitsubishi CRJ-900LR aircraft operated by Jazz Aviation LP, was conducting flight ACA8226 from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson International Airport (CYYZ), ON, to Fredericton International Airport (CYFC), NB. During the approach to Runway 09 at CYFC in visual meteorological conditions, with a reported right crosswind of 150° at 8 knots gusting to 16 knots, the flight crew initiated a go-around. During the initial part of the go-around, the aircraft banked left, the left main landing gear contacted the runway surface, and the left wingtip struck the runway. The go-around was completed; the flight crew conducted a second approach and landed on Runway 09 without further incident. The aircraft taxied to the apron. No injuries were reported. The aircraft sustained scrape damage to the left wingtip and left outer leading-edge slat. The aircraft was secured after the occurrence.
