What would you define GROUND CONTACT? would you base it on SCT or an OVC Ceiling?
If you have any reference to this please send as i can't seem to find...

You might need to be a little more clear on what it is you are looking for here. Just a guess.
Are you talking about clouds in contact with ground to make fog/ceilings? Are you talking about visual contact with ground for VFR? Otherwise you will likely get alot of Cumulo-Granite type jokes

Lots of ref to ground reference in the AIM and CARs. What's the context? VFROTT? approach bans? RVR?
Sounds like it could be a good thread if you'd be more specific.

Could be when you talk to it as well, that usually happens if you survive the see it and hit it part.

There are ten items listed, but the wording is "should" not "shall" so there is some room for discretion I guess. I like to see the threshold and 6 runway edge lights down each side from DH/ MDA but that's just me, some "superheroes" can do it with only 3 runway edge lights (that's 1/8 of a mile!)
Now how much you are going to be comfortable with comes with experience. Since nearly all flight schools are afraid to teach in IMC you may be alone the first time you are there. Hopefuly you are with an experienced but conservative captain. Me I was with an experienced cowboy.
