Any ideas as to what's boosting AC.TO? I see we reset our 52 week high. I've heard speculation that the market seems to know who the next CEO is going to be but I can't find anything on google. Oil, war, labor stability with the majority of contracts under TA's, all of the above?

Unless the next CEO is a solid outsider, I can't see the stock rallying because of that, but I'm curious as to why as well.

If I may from a customer perspective as I never was an airline pilot. Did a trip on AC very recently to Toronto for few days(Jays games)then on to NOTL for 5 days. Travelled with daughter,SIL and grandkids and it was the consistency of the AC platform, from their excellent App, complementary drinks(beer and wine) onboard, free wi-fi to their Aeroplane members. We found Pearson seemless, we had priority baggage check in , no security issues getting through. The AC app informed via text of the departure gate changes,it also advised us of our baggage status(in transit and on the aircraft). The App itself was flawless and very easy to navigate through getting our boarding pass and loading into Apple Wallet. Great backend flight crew both ways, no significant departure delays - lots of “ please and thank you” heard amongst all pax both ways. For family reasons our route was YSJ - YYZ return on one of the older AC Rouge generation A319 , wasn’t cramped and it certainly beats a Q400 slugging it through in the mid 20’s with propellers in your ears. Perhaps the theme of consistency is reflective from the very many who travel on AC, thus increasing profitability and Stock value.

PS. Toronto is a great city, vibrant and diverse and I always enjoy my visits. Rogers Centre quite lively especially up around the WestJet Flight Deck location and above levels. Our third time at NOTL in 6 years, very special place to me personally, Ferox by Fabien Reis was outstanding, the wine maker spent 45 minutes with us highlighting his extensive world wide knowledge and skill. I picked up 4 bottles and none got busted in the luggage, it was well over the 50 lbs and Air Canada didn’t charge me.

I appreciate your post and review Old Fella. I agree with all your points. Air Canada (and Toronto) have become world class. I really hope the Canadian economic downturn over the past few years won't set things back again.

I and two others I know have had to deal with cancelled flights in the last month or so. Three hour wait for me, another drove to destination and a third scrambled to catch Porter at YTZ. Weather was reasonable to great.

In my experience it's usually a short staffing problem. There is such a weird HR department here. I've never seen a company so dedicated to minimizing staff costs and running a skeleton crew but only for the boots on the ground employee groups. The office worker and management employee groups are fully staffed and then some.

Cancellations, cancellations, cancellations.

Friend came up for a visit twice this summer. His planned flight was cancelled both times. Business acquaintence came up for a visit a couple of months ago, got his cancellation text on the way to the airport and went on Porter instead. He sent me an email from his Europe vacation last month. Here is a quote from his email...

"Similar to my trip to XXX last month, Air Canada decided to cancel my flight back last minute and move it a day forward – not sure how they keep winning “Airline of the year” etc."

And yes, I had a cancellation too this summer resulting in a 4 hour wait for the next flight.

Nothing wrong with a Dash-8 for a couple of hours, just relax and enjoy.

Why not try Porter. No doubt they have some issues but time for us to spread our money around.

Air Canada is what sucks. This “high” stock price isn’t even half of what it was before COVID.

Such a weird thing for a pilot to say. Like it matters at all. But he uses the great Dukes name in vain without shame. Definitely wears his uniform on purpose for a quick stop for groceries.
