Caravan Floatplane Hard Landing

Post by pelmet »

I gave this its own thread because TSB is doing a class 3 investigation, meaning that a final report will be issued.....

C-FJOE, a Seair Seaplanes Limited Cessna C208 (Caravan) floatplane, was operating from
Vancouver Harbour Water Aerodrome (CYHC), BC, under visual flight rules, to Victoria Harbour
Water Airport (CYWH), BC. During the landing flare, the aircraft suddenly dropped, contacted the surface hard, and bounced 3
times before settling on the water. The aircraft taxied to the dock without further issues. One
passenger received serious injuries and 3 passengers received minor injuries. The aircraft was
substantially damaged. An emergency locator transmitter signal was not detected.
The aircraft was transported by barge from CYWH to the operator's maintenance facility in
Richmond, BC. The TSB is investigating.
