Entry Level Aviation Jobs
I am 18 and will be looking for a job until I go to college in the fall. Besides line service (flightline) is there any other entry level job I could look for? Possibly aircraft washer or cleaner? Im open to ideas.

Can you answer a phone, sweep floors, scrub toilets, wash bugs off of a wind screen, move airplanes around the ramp, and take abuse from the instructors because we are better then you?
Well then you have what it takes to dispatch at a flight school.

Don't waste your time at a flight school. Once you finish your training they are still going to charge you for your instructor rating. Work the ramp for a good small airline and they will train you at their cost.
Only work non-flying aviation jobs if it will get you flying job. Paying 6-7 grand on top of it does not count.

Why are you sorry? I never suggested dispatch at a flight school. I just listed the normal duties.ramp_agent wrote:Sorry Lurch, you know its true.
JAGflyer if you want to instruct the flight school would be the best route, no they won't pay, but a lot of schools will give you a discount. If you don't want to instruct go get a ramp job at a local charter company, start making your contacts and if you are lucky they hire 250 hour pilots and if you work hard they might hire you after you finishes your CPL.
Just don't expect any company you go work for to hire you the second you get your CPL because they "Owe" you or you already put in your time.

If you are young and just looking for a job to pass the time (i.e. not necessarily looking to fly for the company) then you can never go wrong dispatching at a small flight school or charter company. Talk to the pilots, ask them questions, make fresh pots of coffee for when they land. The stories and advice you will gain is worth more than the paycheque.
