Hi,
For all you Dash pilots out there, I was just wondering what the average v speeds are? Im interested in the Q100/200 as well as the 400.
Thanks

So why does VMO start at 245, peak at 286, and then back to 248 by 25000 feet?
Cheers,

Because TAS increases with Altitude then IAS reduces with altitude. Jets won't show it because they transition to MACH.
(Sounds like I'm smart but I asked the same thing in Dash 8 groundschool in 1999)

It's a bombardier thing to make us remember more stupid numbers...
challenger 601:
Vmo 301 kts S.L. - 10,000'
Vmo 360 kts 10,000' - 21,330'
Mmo .79 21,330'-25,640'
Vmo 330 kts 25,640'-28,720'
Mmo .835 28,720' and up
You'd think they could simplify it a little. It's always fun flying into places with no speed limit below 10,000...as soon as you hit 10,000 PA that stupid barber pole jumps back 60 knots and if you're not paying attention it gets a little noisy...usually only happens once

Not really the whole story. Lower Vmo below 10,000ft is because of bird strike certification.
