Hey. Just got a job in Calgary. Looking for any info on a good place to rent in the N.E. Preferably some kind of bachelor or one bedroom furnished basement suite or appartment. Open to sharing a place too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thnx.

N.E. eh? I hear Forest Lawn is nice...

Seriously though, good luck, vacancies are at an all-time low in YYC right now.

If you know someone at WJ who can get you into the crew room, there are a bunch of "shared accommodation" and "for rent" things up on the bulletin board.

Calgary still hasn't passed HongCouver as the most expensive place to buy property, but it has taken the number one most expensive place to rent in Canada title. I've heard of people paying 1500 a month for a 2 bedroom appartment and with no rent control at all it will only get worse.

Colville Lake, there's a Metropolis of the north. I once heard their sewage pipe was the same distance out, and right next to, their fresh water intake pipe...beautiful. And with close to a hundred people and only like 2 last names, well my friend you do the math.......

Finding a place in Calgary is easier than most make it out to be...

Unfortunatly, You have to get out and physicaly look for a place. There's huge amount of people that just simply place a sign in their window to save cash on placing an ad the traditional way (news paper) and also for their lack of knowledge of sites like craigslist.com ...If you can, come here and take a drive. You'll find something quick !

Calgary sucks. Stay away, unless you know how to drive (at least) 10 above the speed limit. Don't use the lowered Honda's/Acura's/BMW 3s as a guide.

But if you're a shitty driver, like many in Calgary, stay away. I put up with enough.

Whoops... too bad you didn't get here in Jan. A townhouse that was worth 155K in Feb, will now cost you 249K. I'm not sure about the rental market. Good news, though... they say the market is 'softening' HA!
