I have read some of the replies regarding work with Voyageur and have spoken to one AME who worked in Africa for them. What kind of salary (per month) do they offer while ? Per diem? Its 2 months in 1 month out (regular pay-off duty) from what I was told. How intensive is their maintenace overseas?
Also does anyone have recent experience with Goderich Aircraft? I saw their ad on Workopolis. They seem to be offering decent "benefits". True?

i've worked on many aircraft at Godrich Aircraft Refinishing while being painted, but i was never employed by them...the guys in the office are great...but you have to realize most parts of the painting process is unskilled labor, so the majority of their workforce represents that....i don't want to sound mean and i don't mean any offense, but there is no way i could handle working there fulltime because of that. the ame's there are great too, but remember if there isn't any "maintenance" to be done, you're helping with the painting process...they do, however, pay ame's quite well. don't expect to fill out a logbook at any paintshop btw..most of what i've seen ames there do is remove/install control surfaces and interiors, and do sheet metal work. hope this helps
Re: Voyageur Airways and Goderich aircraft
i 've work for voyageur for 4 yrs, from yr 2000,when i was an apprentice and when i leave my wage was top up..guess what..14.50 per hr i was offered 10.50 per hr to start , it sounds like a joke but it is true, i'm sure there are few guys makin around 16 for apprentice rate but most apprentices are making 14.50 at the top, and my crew chief who used to work in africa for voyageur has mentioned that pay is not so great ....i doubt that pay will past 25/hr...i'm sure voyageur has improve their pay scale but yet there is no way to compare what industry standard..the only good thing i can tell you about voyageur airways is you get to learn all the basic skills, and it really build up the good fundation of what an ame should be, i am working for a big airline now as well as a contractor for some smaller jet companies ...let me tell you i know more stuffs than some of guys in aviation for more than 10 yrs..yet voyageur pays sucks but if you want to learn and want to get your logbook done quick it is the good company to work for! actually i love north bay, and people in voyageur are great, if not for the wage i would really work for them for another couple yrs...so here is my suggestion, if you do work for voyageur airways make sure to record all your tasks everyday, cox you really have lots tasks to deal with everyday once you done logbook then get the hell out...but if you are an ame,,i don't see any mean of work for voyageur,,unless that can offer a good money! the other company Godrich,,,,yet just like another guy, it's a combination of paint shop and overhaul, i 've been there for interview, but i don't see any room for me to grow up that time since i was apprentice! so here is my past experience for you!dashx wrote:I have read some of the replies regarding work with Voyageur and have spoken to one AME who worked in Africa for them.
