I love it! As a passenger it is very true, YYC is a great connection or destination. As well I will give credit to those people in the white cowboy hats, always friendly and amazing ambassadors for Calgary and Canada! YYC should be proud.

It may be good for the PAX, but when there's 10 airplanes inbound it's horrible! slow down, fly south for 10 minutes, slow down some more, maybe do a hold, speed up, slow down, slow oh no speed up, cleared the visual, but slow to 160 for the FAF crossing.

GET ANOTHER RUNWAY PLEASE CALGARY!

To be truthful, I think YYC does a much more efficient and tighter job of getting airplanes on the ground compared to YYZ.

And yes, a lot of the airport staff in YYC deserve an applause as they are great, friendly, and courteous, including the agents working the airline desks for all the carriers. One of the best efforts I have seen around Canadian airports.

Yeah they are working on that parallel to 34/16, the major holdup is the roads that get affected. Realigning Barlow trail and tunneling the Airport Trail extension east under the new runway, who gets to pay for all that is the big sticking point.

Finance the whole thing the same way YVR does. Charge every passenger a fee for using the airport facilities, charge the vendors a fee for the right to conduct business on the airport and charge the shit outa the airlines for landing/take off etc. Then YYC can also have a CEO and Airport Management who walk around boosting about all the great things they are doing with the endless supply of cash they recieve. Like putting a huge freakin aquarium in the terminal building instead of reducing landing fees etc.

Unbelievable.

Singapore

Hong Kong

Seoul/Incheon ....

Just to name a few. For a small airport, it's good, but doesn't really compare to many of the worlds great hubs.

I don't think being vectored 50 miles south, then returning, to only be slowed to 120 kts, then sped up to 160 is being very efficient, especially when the wind favors 3 runways,....

It only did snow 2 inches a couple days ago, and the ATC'ing was terrible!

Well, everyone's opinions are obviously going to be based on their own personal experiences flying in and out of an airport. I guess the times I have dealt with YYC, they have been efficient. At least more so than YYZ in my opinion.

Ever tried clearing immigration and security in time for a 7 am flight? Immigration doesn't open doors until 5:30 am, which on any morning will already have hundreds of people waiting to go through. The bottleneck there, and subsequently, the bottleneck at security makes for a horrible experience at Calgary airport when taking an early hop to the States. I guarantee that people miss the pre 8 am flights on a regular basis. I'm surprised that the airlines haven't lobbied with immigration to have the doors opened at least 30 minutes sooner. Other than flights at that time to the States, its a great place to fly out of.

YYC is a good airport, but #3???Its just a msnbc based opinion.IATA and others are a lot more reliable when it comes to this stuff for ranking airports.Maybe the CAA paid these guys....JK...Many of the worlds airports particularly in asia blow YYC out of the water.Maybe best current airport in Canada but forsure not number 3 in the world...

Everyone has forgotten what the true measure of an efficient Canadian airport is...

Tim Horton's outlets!

YYZ - one

YYC - four

YVR- four

the colonies win on this front, hands down

Ya but the Timmy's at T1 will have you waiting in line for 40 min for a coffee. All the terminals come to think of it. At least at YYC you get a choice of Timmy's or the other guys.

But the lineups for Tim's are terrible...How hard would it be to have one extra person working and paying the employee's for the time..I'm sure you would sell more than enough coffee to pay for the extra wages...
