I'm surprised nobody's posted Transat -> "Trashcan" yet; maybe that's just an ATC thing? We never use "Transat" except on frequency.

Back in the day, some controllers supposedly convinced a new trainee that VAL = "Vaginair," and the trainee proceeded to call the flight that all the way across the sector. Apparently the pilots either didn't notice or decided not to say anything about it ...

EDIT: Oops, not acronyms ... ok ok .. funny nonetheless.

Hmmmmmmm.....

If it is, then it's news to me and all my colleagues... we we're always told to use the full ''Air Transat'' callsign!

I'll have to inquire with the higher powers...
Do you work for Air Transat? Because most pilots I hear use "Transat"

Yes. Not supposed to (but it might happen)!
I don't know what you are on about.

The OFFICIAL ICAO call sign for Air Transat is just plain TRANSAT.

Check it out here: http://www.tc.gc.ca/pol/en/report/TP143 ... 32005E.htm
