Hands in our pockets, TC fees illegal!

Post by W0X0F »

Seems it's illegal for governments to charge user fees. A Supreme Court ruling has deemed fees charged by Governments as taxation without representation.

Some additional information and discussion posted on another forum:
From what I understand of this ruling as well as the probate decision, fees that are set administratively that have no basis in Regulation (law) are the target. There are many fees in our society that are set by bureaucrats with no foundation in law. But I would think that any "fee" or "tax" might be considered fair game.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CAR 104 Schedule IV - Personnel Licensing & Training
21. Processing, by an employee of the Department of Transport, of a medical certificate in respect of a pilot licence or a pilot permit other than a student pilot permit
(amended 2000/07/15; previous version) $55
This is the unfortunate provision that is in the Regulations and can therefore be considered as "law". But many laws have been challenged before to the benefit of the challengers...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Security Fees? If I am correct this money goes into general revenues and when challenged in the House of Commons on how this money was spent former Minister of Transport Collenette said because of National Security this could not be disclosed............. Go figure

Yeh, they are also dreamers.

Just got another letter from their collection Unit.

Seems they feel I owe them a pile of money for fees on my medicals and if I don't pay up they will withhold it from my income tax refunds?????

Hell I haven't worked in canada for many many years because a Government agency would not allow me to do what I am licensed to do.

Lots of luck collecting from me TC.....what a sorry bunch of morons.

Here is a deal for you idiots in Tower C , pay me the money you owe me and then we can discuss what you think I owe you.

Idiots......

F*ck's sakes. All I can say is thank god I don't have anything to do with employing cry babies who bitch about a $55 fee once a year for a medical renewal. $0.15 per day for the year?

Christ, don't you people have anything important to complain about?

I paid my bill with them on the internet a few years ago and somehow they lost record of it. I have my credit card statement to prove it but in a typical beaurocratic runaround, I still have not got satisfaction so therefore have not paid them since.. :roll:

So what would be something of importance?

How about the temperatures (on the prairies, at least) for the past week. Now *that's* something to complain about. Damn! -42 with wind chill in Wpg this morning.

Well, professor, since you asked ... I suspect I pay more income tax than your gross income last year to our so-wonderful government, and in return, our so-wonderful government that you work for has (illegally, I might add) banned my airshow team for life from ever performing again at another airshow in Canada.

Gee, that sounds like a really great deal. Pay a shitload of money to a bunch of dope-smoking left-wing queers in Ottawa, and they use it to fund a years-long campaign of illegal harassment and abuse. I have a Federal Court Order "enjoining" the Minister from this illegal campaign, which Transport simply ignores.

Please, really, do @#$! completely off, ok?

any mention of "professor" gives some hint of brain activity

errrrrrrrr................

Try being over 40, you twit.

Also, you twit, some of that $55 used to go towards maintenance of the AIP, which is now disappeared. So, we old people paid two times a year instead of once for something NOT related to a medical and no longer is in existence. And you don't think THAT is wrong? The matter has come up a couple of times on here, so there are people out here who know when they are being screwed and speak up.

Just stay in Winnipeg, you deserve it. Report on the weather from there.

(I really hate the slanging on here, but for anyone that wants to do it, please get your facts straight.)

Right on, Hedley!!!!!

and professor, I forgot

Don't go outside when it's cold, stay in the MacDonald Building, down there on Edmonton Street, and keep on drinking coffee, maybe shuffle some paper. Put somebody you don't like on the bottom of the heap for an approval.

Again, we see pilots getting screwed over by the man. As I do believe we are in a profession and not just a job there should be some body to represent all certified commercial pilots. I have no objection to paying a fee for representation. However something for nothing,well that I have a problem with. Can anyone tell me if a doctor must pay for a medical certification every year or a lawyer or an engineer? Why pick on pilots?
