Terrible news, Simon was killed Friday in a car accident in BC.

Simon worked at Buffalo Airways, Adlair and Kenn Borek and made friends everywhere he went. I know alot of those friends visit this site.

We'll miss him.

Fond memories of beer in the early morning following all night ramp shifts.

I knew Simon from waaay back. A real gentleman, always ready to help others, funny and happy-go-lucky kind of guy. My condolence to his family.

This sucks...
Simon and I flew together at KBA. He always had a smile on his face, never had anything bad to say about anyone, and was a great person and an outstanding pilot.
My prayers go out to his family.

He was one of the few genuine people out there. Always a big smile on his face. He could make you laugh about almost anything. An easy guy to like and to talk to. We miss ya already bud.

Simon and I flew together at KBA quite a bit. He was a really great guy who could always make you laugh no matter what. Rest in peace buddy you will be missed.

I had beer with Simon on Thursday a week or so ago. I hadn't seen him in ages. We had a good talk things seemed to be looking up for him. It will be a night i never forget. Had some uncle Glen for you tonight...please send me funeral details.

I'm in shock. I shared a crew house with him in Inuvik with Borek. I just e-mailed him yesterday.

A good man, friend and prankster. The "Evil Scottsman" will be missed.

I worked with this gentleman and drank with him,he was hard to keep up with!
You guys are right,he was a great human being and Pilot.His sense of humor and morale will be missed by all!

On the first flight with simon we got ourselves strapped in, head set pluged in, charts out, loaded up GPS, ran through all checks, and just before Taxi, he pulls out the staples easy button and puts it on the dash. After T/O he pushes the button and the "that was easy" is heard. Up till that moment I didn't really have a guage on Simon, after that I knew we were gonna have fun times.

Hell of a guy!!!

You were an instant best friend to me, and judging from AvCanada today, you had that effect on everyone you met. I was with Paul today and I could tell he was having difficulty trying to keep from welling-up (as I have been all day). I remember the first time we met at Bigalow St. when you were at Tundra Transfer. I had no idea that you were a heavy closet (Original) Star Trek fan. Thanks for loaning me your boxed set to copy. I know it pained you to break copy-right rules but I did fix your computer. At a hundred dollars a month for internet in Cambridge, I know you saw the value of a fast computer. I'm more of a TNG fan but I could appreciate your affinity to the brute force methods of Kirk!!! I thought (you had Val Kilmer looks and stage persona) that you should have been a fighter pilot... Though I think you couldn't kill a fly never-mind be mean to another human and thus flew sick Inuit for over a year (of self-misery) to safety, while jeopardizing your marriage with Brandi. In the end you chose Brandi, (not that it was ever a choice, but the bills still had to get paid). Paul was pissed at first but after I explained it to him and he had a chance to think about it, he understood. This is why he was happy to see you come to work for me at Shell.

Aviation is a small world... I thought I'd run into you again... The last time I saw you was in the fall when you needed a ride to the main terminal and I didn't have the time to take you there so I gladly let you take my truck. "Just throw the keys on the floor and lock it, I'll get a ride over later and use the door code to get in." I ended up walking over that afternoon and the whole time (twenty minutes) I was happy to have helped you make your flight. It reminded me when I used to rollerblade to work in Vancouver and I had lots of time to think along the way. I never would have thought you would have been taken from this world 2/3rds of a life too early.

I'm the most atheist person you'll ever meet... But Robbie (Burns) look-out for your brother....

HIS MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY JANUARY 26TH AT KENN BOREK AIR LTD.  HANGAR 59 AT 11:00AM 393 PALMER ROAD NE, CALGARY, AB.

Also Simon’s wife would like to express her thanks for all the support and caring that has been shown.

Simon was a great man and will truly be missed.

Simon will be missed a lot, i shared a appart. with him for one year, he left a great impression on me.

yes drinking lots of TEA and Sounds of German Marching Band took a little getting used to, loosing to him at jamesbond on his nitendo...he spoke often about flying in africa with cigar in the mouth and the window open.

Time spent in Grand Prairie was the toughest for me...thanks to Simon his easy smile cheered things up.

As for Simon's wit:
I remember, I had finished fueling a Beech Bonanza out on 'Kilo' at YZF and the passengers were two very hot late teen - early twentys girls flying with their dad who were spending the night here. Simon was walking behind them from the FBO and I was leaning out the window of the avgas truck talking to them when Simon shouted: "Ted, your wife just called, she wants you to get bread and diapers on your way home!" These girls were super hot and I was so imbarrased even though I'm practically married. But I was another victim of his wit...and I conceded this.
