The YHZ port is open now. I have a YHZ port pairing this month.

McDoo is right. The first memo about the new ports says that those ports will be open "commencing in the Febuary 2007 bid period" which I misread to mean March flying. My bad.
So yes, YEG, YWG, and YHZ ports started in Febuary 2007.

scopiton, there are lots of people who commute from places where there are no ports, some even commute from places where West Jet doesn't even serve. So depending on where you want to live you can join the increasing number of commuters.

To answer how you deal with it. It depends where you live. Vancouver Island you can use the floatplanes like Baxter and Harbour Air. Gulf Islands you can use Salt Spring Air. Whistler you can use HeliJet. Northern BC commuters drive to Prince George or take Hawk Air. Somewhere like the interior of BC you have Kelowna, and you can use WJ, AC, or Jazz now. If you're in the US, there are a bunch of carriers like United. You are still responsible to get yourself to your base of Calgary, or your PORT if you sign on to one, for the start of your flight.
AC and Jazz are free to get to work. On WestJet you have to pay $2.50 plus tax. If you use the AC or Jazz jumpseats, our pilots have been bringing Timmy's or something nice for the AC and Jazz pilots, since we can't give them a free jumpseat reciprocation (YET).

Rainbow lake isn't in Northern ontario. It's in Northern Alberta.
Perhaps you were thinking of the ever senic Garden River and it's infamous "this is indian land" Spray painted bridge?

Ahh, but they have a Garden River in northern AB. Sound like the same scenery though.

Just had a chat with a YWG port pilot, and he was raving about how awesome his port schedule was. Sounds like a winner!
