Aviation Restaurants

Post by Oleo 4 »

Over the years, everyone has had to of stumbled across a restaurant with an aviation theme that has caught their attention, or a place where you would rather stay for overnights. Anyone up for enlightening the rest of us of a good watering hole.

I'm in the lower mainland so I'd have to say Flying Beaver @ YVR

Or the always classic Chilliwack Airport for pie.

Also the Ice cream shack next the the Courtenay Airpark, Vancouver Island BC.

spitfire flight kitchen in victoria.

we were in there one day when the firecats were going out one after the other...nearly rattled the bacon and eggs right off my plate. there was a shapely waitress, too; but only a close second to the bacon.

mmmm....precious bacon.

The Dumpsters outside the airport in Luanda Angola.

Judging by the number of people scrounging through them they are quite popular.

Aviation Restaurants??

I've never had aviation...so I can't recommend a good restaurant that serves it.

Although it has had me a couple of times.

Ok, that sucked. Carry on.

Flying Tigers at KBUF was great until it went under

The Katana Cafe & Grill in London is pretty nice - a bit expensive, but great food.

Also, in downtown toronto (yorkville), there's a bar called The Pilot - cheap food, cheap booze, good times - and rooftop patio! @#$! yeah!

I second the Rare Bird in LA. Possibly the largest private collection of WWII aircraft on display?

Runway 29 an the city centre airport in Edmonton. The food is not that good the servise is hit and miss but the view from above the Tim Hortons is perfect for criticting student pilot landings, and there are usually some pilots to have a drink with or play a game of crud.

Toss up between the Spitfire in Victoria or Chilliwack (PIE!).

Although I was just in YVR the other day and had my first Flying Beaver experience - something to say about the "talent" there... :)

The Landing Strip in YYZ. They serve food, so I guess you could consider it a restaurant.

Well I'd say that the "restaurant" at the Inuvik airport has some of the best caribou chilli around, and the bannock (eskimo doughnuts) can't be beat.

And who could forget the chocolate bar machine in Iqaluit? mmmmm!

In Victoria, the Dakota Cafe in the Victoria Flying Club slays the Spitfire Grill. Beautiful island girls with great attitudes, fantastic contemporary food, an airside deck in the summer and 50+ years of aviation history in the surrounding club. Hands down winner at YYJ

Apollo, I've thought of paying a visit. Good aviation presence or is it just a name given? Also, do you know what time they stop serving food?

which one? Katana cafe is pretty awesome, in the summer there's an airside deck, and the food is quite tasty.

The Pilot... well, best to check out the website :P They're not really aviation geared (other then thier name, and some of their menu items), but it's a great place to go and have a burger and a few pints, the deck in the summer is fantastic, and the jazz kills :)

Lets not Forget the Flying Beaver at YVR.

Put a few dents in the bar on opening night that are still there.

The Boss wasn't impressed.

Shit yea! Zet's is AWESOME.

Kantana Cafe in London is good stuff....agreed that it's expensive...but come on, the carbon fibre bar top is sleek, isn't it?

In Peterborough there's a place on the field...I forget what it's called. Doesnt look the best...But they have amazing burgers...HUGE, and the mound of fries is rediculous. Highly reccomend...under $8 when said and done...if you can finish that is.

The Runway Cafe in Kitchener is alright.

For real class nothing will beat the Mckenzie Hotel in Inuvik in the 60's & 70's.

If the guy looks like he weighs about as much as an airplane, does that count as an aviation theme restaurant!?
