Anyone But Skywings

I have a friend who's looking for a school for his ppl. Somebody south of Edmonton and north of Calgary with a good reputation for safe, proffesional opperations. No offense to those loyal to Skywings but I will not be recomending them regardless of what I might hear from Shitdisturber and his peers.
I've been out of the area for a while so I'd very much appreciate some informed recomendations.
Thanx

In '95 I stopped for fuel at Three Hills, AB and there was a flight school there. Kinda NE of Calgary. Not a clue of the name of the school though.

Yep thats the one in three hills. You can learn to fly and get closer to god with an airplane. Just watch yourself there, folks like that cloudcounter fellow have been spotted in that area. I am not sure if there is one in Airdrie or not.

Thanx all.
Anyone have first-hand experience with Wetaskiwin? The CFI there quite a few years back seemed like a respectable fellow. Anyone know if it's still the same people or have any other info I can offer my buddy?

You can find a variety of answers to that question in the top post of the Flight Training section; the one labeled Attention: Please Read Before Posting. Look at the second and third links for schools in Alberta (excluding Calgary)

I know that Wetaskiwin Air Sercices was sold a couple years back to some new owners. I have had a few of my friends from the central alberta area going there and they are quite happy with them. I did my license there with Bud pelltier many years back, great guy. I would definatly recommend them, and the airport there is great, uncontrolled but only 0.3 from the CYEG control zone.

Thanks Electraguy.
Sorry to hear Bud's no longer running the school. Good man, good pilot, even better instructor. We should all aspire to be more like him.
Bud, I hope you're reading this from somewhere sunny.

I don't know what more to say.
Did you skip over the statements like "Avoid Skywings. Stay as far away as possible...", "She was in pajamas", "I have been to Okotoks (Sky Wings' satelite school) in the past and realy regret it", "Patience is a virtue there", "Stay far far away...", "Lets say they don't do a lot of repeat business there", "If you have all the time in the world... by all means you should go there"
I hope it was a vision problem. If however you were able to clearly read all those statements from all those people and not have any concerns then I wish you all the luck in the world

You've just never gotten over the fact that she told you to stop emailing her have you? Why don't you grow up and get over your petty little vendetta? Everybody has moved on literally and figuratively, why don't you? If it's such a terrible place, why do you keep coming back? Yes I know who you are, just as you know who I am.
alright

Ok, I like this game, who are you guys, don;t suppose one of you is batman??

Not Batman. Sorry.
But also not who Shitdisturber thinks. While I suspect I know who the pajama comment was about she's not anyone I've ever socialized with.
And the one you thought I was: Give him a break too. Last I heard he had moved way on as well.
We're all moving up in the world so why get our briefs in a bunch over old loyalties. Oh yeah and Go Leafs Go!

I'll go along with you that you're not who I think you are; although the only people that know about the email are her, me, and him; yet you seem to know who I'm talking about. As for giving him a break; hardly necessary. What he doesn't understand is that for people to give him a break we'd have to start thinking about him, not exactly a priority with anybody I know. While I'm supposedly the architect behind everything that's gone wrong in his life; the truth is, I've never cared enough to do anything to him; I'd rather sit around and watch cars rust than waste a bunch of energy finding ways to make him miserable; oh well c'est la vie.
As for the pyjamas, I'll say this again since she's a friend of mine and doesn't deserve the abuse; hopefully for the last time. She never wore anything like that to work, although she did wear something that looked like pyjamas once and once only and never did it again because of all the abuse she took. It's hardly relevant since she hasn't worked there in five years; it would be nice if people left her alone however.

something that looked like pyjamas
Maybe she should have tried a thong instead?
Back when I was instructing ...
I'm a pretty big guy (over 6 foot and 200 lbs) so I didn't fit very well into a C152. A 172 is much more spacious if you're not a midget. But when someone insisted on flying in something miniature like a 150/152, I would strap on (just) my thong and climb on in. Generally, it took only one sweaty, hairy flight and the student gladly shelled out for the 172 after that. I'll bet they wished I wore pyjamas!

I knew nothing about an e-mail until you mentioned it. All I know is that in the past decade there's only been one person who'd have tried or gotten away with anything so unproffesional. I don't mean to launch a personal attack here. As I've already said I don't know her personally so I'd be completely off base to even have an opinion about her let alone voice it publicly. Besides, I could care less about whether my friend were exposed to an inappripriately dressed bombshell at his school. (I assure you he wouldn't mind in the least)
Also, I'll be the last one to claim that you're the architect of his missery. I'm affraid that's just a natural state of being for some people, and while I know you're a mischevious delinquent I've never seen malice from you, and I do respect you as a person and a pilot. You might notice one of the things I said in my first post was that I mean no disrespect to Skywings but I'd rather see my friend train in less frustrating environment.
I have been carefull not to attack Skywings or any of its people, but I've been long gone from the area so I needed some assistance providing a variety of opinions for this person. We all know that these are just opinions from people who generally have a personal agenda, but my friend has a right to make an informed decision and as I see it, starting this thread was my best way of helping him do this.
Edited for typos

Hey Hedley,
Very informative and all but I started this thread to help a friend who's about to start flying. Lets not send him running just yet.

No you don't. You thrive on being a prankster and we all love it.

Edited to add a hug. Somebody seems to need one.

Nope. But I stayed at a Holiday Inn once.
