I keep hearing a nasty rumour that Cargojet has or is losing the UPS contract due to non-performance. I was wondering if anyone who knows the facts would care to elaborate.

That would be a hard hit to CargoJet I'm sure if it were true....hopefully not.

I've also heard rumors for years UPS is looking to start it's own Canadian domestic air service A La Morningstar does for FedEx... who knows.

Geez, rumours are fun, next week: Godzilla attacks Cargojet......

Flightcraft is going to lose their contract with Canada Post (Purolater) to Cargojet.

Cargojet will assume the contract, purchase new planes, and therefor keep their head above water. Years of flying freight at below-market prices are a thing of the past.

DHL will require a new carrier to expand their presence within Canada. Flightcraft steps-up with available planes at more-than-reasonable rates.

Fedex continues operations with Morningstar, as always.

Sure, Prince Edward Air buys A380 for Domestic freight.

It's about as likely.

First off, rumours are just that. Lots of 'what ifs' being thrown around, and know one will know the truth until it happens. One fact is for sure, Cargojet has in the past, and still operates with their head well above water.

A while back, a good friend of mine made a comment about Canadian aviation that rang true: "Nobody owns market share... it's only rented". By this he meant that every company has it's ups-and-downs but nothing is permanent. Some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug, and everyone is going to speculate about it.

FWIW, I've heard rumors that Flightcraft was going to lose their Canada Post contract. Once? Twice? Try once or twice per year! Add it all up and they should have gone tits-up roughly nineteen rumors ago . Cargojet was supposed to fold shortly after starting. Morningstar was going to start a passenger service and move away from freight (Wardair lives!!!). DHL will make serious in-roads up here in Canada so the door is open for the next Cargojet. Sheesh, it just goes on and on...

Seems there was a carrier not long ago with a Ace of Spades that lost that contract to but as I remember cause I was there was that it would never happen and don't listen to rumours.

What ever happened to those great posts about Cargojet going bankrupt around a year ago? As soon as the next quarterly report came out, suddenly it was eerily quiet in here. Has anyone seen the latest annual report? Looks pretty good.

It sure doesn't take much to get people wound up. The minute you start believing anything you read in here, it's time to put the bong down or head off to therapy.

Totally unrelated but speaking of Ace of Spades I was just reminded how much I used to get the run around with those guys when I was trying to get a job with them. I would have had better chance of winning the lottery than getting to meet their Chief. Now looking back I gotta say "boy am I glad!!!".

Amazing how different the world of aviation seems when you are struggling for that first break.

No way Airturd it's all true-Cargojet will lose the UPS,pick up the Purolator contract and then be bought by A.C.E. after that the senority lists will be merged.you saw it here first.

Too bad for all you nay sayers but as of a couple of days ago, Purolator has decided to go with Flightcraft for another 5 years.

The reality is...and everyone knows this, UPS loves to bully companies around...switching contracts between carriers about as often as I change my underwear, and trust me, I change my underwear alot, atleast once a week. They do this to get the best possible rate, making companies bid against each other, when really they are just bidding against themselves. The end result, they get their connections done for a very low price. So I'm not surprised to hear this rumour, because it is exactly the game that UPS plays. If cargojet did lose the contract, it would go to Flightcraft or somebody, CargoJet would bid again in the next 6 months with a lower rate, and then would get it back.

I call it ruthlessness...but others would call it good business.

This is great news for everyone at KFC. To all of you, congratulations on the renewal of the Purolator contract. Hopefully this will reinstate nights (days?) of restfull sleep to all those faced with uncertainty over the past several months.
