Getting back the Cat 1

Hello all, haven't had the chance to talk to my doctor yet but does anyone know what happens to your medical if you have to undergo cancer treatments? How long do you lose it for? Is it hard to get back? Least of my concerns right now, but just looking for some info. PM me if you'd like, thanks.

One of my instructors where I did my civilian training a few years ago had Cancer and got his medical back 6 months after his treatments were over with and the tumor was cured.
