Post by Phillip Banks »

Did anyone else read the Mount Royal job ad and laugh or was it just me.

"College Instructor" please. The requirements are a page long but at the end of the day your still a flight instructor.

Man o man they need to take themselves less seriously

The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re a pilot.

Seems to me that job is nothing to laugh at. Sounds like a pretty good gig for the right person. This is not your typical instructing job and hence the "College Instructor" term. Pay looks great. God knows I've made a lot less than that as a MEDEVAC captain on a king air.
I know quite a few instructors at Seneca and let me tell you, if you are full time that's a sweet job. I can see why someone would make a career out of it. Good pay, good benefits, great schedule, home every night, and lots of vacation time. It is a rare gem of a job in the crazy world of aviation.
A wise & happy old pilot told me once, "It will always be about lifestyle".

Bang on. If it is anything like when I was a student there, the instructors received great hourly for flight time plus received full benefits from the College and if they taught a course they were compensated by the college. It is a pretty lucrative job if you are into instruction. This could be a 10 year job if it is your sorta thing.

How much money are you making that you can laugh at an ad for an instructing job that pays $42 an hour PLUS base! I wish they paid this much back when I was starting out!! I would think the money would serve to attract more career oriented instructors thus raising the quality of instruction at Mount Royal...
