Just out of curiosity, would the people that have applications in with jazz mind putting down their experince in this thread? The eggheads at Jazz are saying the college program is due to a shortage of qualified applicants. Let's see what is really out there and see if maybe Jazz has another motive.
I was thinking of posting a similar question. I just figured it was BS that they were having trouble finding qualified applicants but maybe there is some truth to it.
A lot of the guys I know have no interest in working at Jazz.
At what point do you stop looking at hours. To be perfectly honest, a 200hr seneca grad was better qualified to fly right seat in an RJ than I was with 1000hrs. At that point in my career I had no concept of 2 crew ops, turbine or Jet engines, MEL's and more.
Somebody with 2000hrs sitting right seat in a Pilatus might not be a whole lot better, it's hard to say.
Maybe the pool of 1900 and King Air Captains is drying up fast, at least those willing to make the move to Jazz.
I'm at 2500, 1500 pic, 600 mpic, 800 mturb.
I withdrew my app when I heard about the Seneca thing, also the pay is such shite that I could not affort to work there.
Besides, I just got a job flying corp. jets.

Don't sell yourself short, neither does a 200 hr Seneca Grad.
got turned down at 4500tt, 3500mpic,2600 mtpic, 500 pic over 12500. passed interview and flew sim well.Go figure, but thankyou for not taking me,i didnt have to declare bankruptcy.
There is no shortage of 2000 hour turbine copilots let alone turbine captains that would come to Jazz. This is a bandaid solution to the real issue of retention of new hires. Up the pay problem fixed.
Now if the bean counters think raising the pay is gona be too expensive, try an accident.

Chase lifestyle not metal.
I had a bunch of friends at Air Nova and Ontario actually that made a good living and actually were not looking to go anywhere. Only after the Jazz machine came in did most of them more on.
When I got the call I had 3000 TT, 850 turbine, 500 turbine PIC and 1000 mult PIC. Had to decline the interview as I already had another offer of employment which in my case was better.
In 2000, F/O started at $28,500, once you had 30 guys behind you it got bumped up to $36,000. This was on the dash. Pay was low, but the cost of living in Halifax is far less than in Toronto. I believe it was even lower at CRA.
