With Air Canada changing the parent company name to Air Canada Enterprises they will now be known by the acronym ACE. AllCanada Express is allready known as ACE, and they actually fly some cargo under contract for AC.

Or is ACE's (the freight co.) current growth just really aggressive? Maybe they are taking over AC? Hmmm.

Rumour going around it may be MD11's instead of DC10's. The super 10's. Anyone else heard this?

Just when everyone thought that you couldn’t muddy the waters further this is another current rumor. The two 767's just back from the desert are being converted into freighters one of the 767’s (fin 621 ex-NZ) came with a cargo door. What does all this mean? I don’t have a clue, your guess is just as good as mine..

I edited for an update of the latest rumour. The leased freighters are MD11's and AC is bringing back an additional 2 more 767's from the desert to be converted to freighters.

Well story is that A/C will bring two of their (ex-Canadien) 767 and from desert and make cargo door at Boeing, and give to one of the cargo operators. Same story with MD 11, perhaps to be used to fly far east.

Air Canada, on behalf of itself and Gemini Air Cargo Inc. has applied to the CTA for exemption from certain parts of the Canada Transportation Act to allow Air Canada Cargo to wet-lease MD-11Fs from Gemini Air Cargo between November 1 and April 30, 2005. The new arrangement is being set up to replace capacity lost with the retirement this week of the last two Boeing 747-400 combis. The new all-cargo flights will operate from Toronto to Frankfurt, and also from Toronto via Halifax to Vitoria Spain and Frankfurt. The Halifax-Vitoria flights are for seafood shipments primarily. The CTA has approved the application with the proviso that commercial control of the flights shall be maintained by Air Canada, with Gemini maintaining operational control of the flights and shall receive payment based on the rental of aircraft and crew and not on the basis of the volume of traffic carried or other revenue-sharing formula. Also, no local traffic may be carried between Toronto and Halifax.
