Central Mountain Air

Post by linebacker35 »

Any current or ex CMA guys here? Just wondering about the company. What the new hire classes look like(hours), how the hiring is looking for the next few years. Also is yyc a senior base, is it a possibility to get it right out of training, if not how long to hold it?

Apparently you think that CMA has something to do with AC or ACJ .. so much so that you needed to post it in the AC/Jazz section. Try the Employment section to find your answers.

Cheers,

Loc

I figured since this was the most active section I would have the best chance at finding my answers here.... Former CMA guys at AC and Jazz now or current CMA guys lookin at this section to further their careers at AC/Jazz

I will however repost it in the employment section. Thanks

I think that this Forum is a great place to look for ex-CMA pilots. A pile of them are at Air Canada.

Most newhires at JAZZ and AC have trouble with the paycut.

Not CMA pilots.... They are happy with the big pay raise they get. :D

I'd guess the hiring is focused on those with as much time as they can get, which is to say probably nobody with more than 3000 hrs is applying there. Low 2000's is probably the sweet spot- not enough time to demand a direct entry captain spot (which is a ruse anyway as you'd end up right seat for 6 months no matter what), but enough to upgrade at your first recurrent.
Not sure what the junior base is now, it was YYC 6 months ago, but recently a few of the northern long-timers have left and I don't suppose there's been a ton of people that have plunked down roots in YXS or YYD yet to fill their places permanently. Plan on a token tour up north for a few months before getting YYC or YVR.
Movement through the CMA machine, and I call it a machine because the pilots are managed with full knowledge that it is a stepping stone, is 100% dependant on large airline hiring. As long as Jazz, AC, and WJ are in hiring mode- CMA is losing guys and is therefore hiring.

Hehehe, and here is Localizer's advice to me from another thread:
Localizer wrote:Qballs .... You need to relax .... grab a beer and chill out or something. (tea perhaps) Why do all you Porter types have your damn backs up so much?? ..

Relax .............

Cheers,
