Couldn't agree more!
Forgot I had the ex in my hotmail addressbook and those idiots sent a friend request that I never requested. Why oh why can't we just ship them off to the Antarctic when we're done with them?
(though I'll admit I have less reason to be afraid than Dash-Ate does!)

Re: facebook
Three years later and Zuckerberg has cancelled his Caribbean birthday party to try and rebrand himself as the good guy after a month of bad press. Any thoughts?
You can interpret that however you would like.

Like Diaspora, Appleseed's approach is one of a growing band of "distributed social networking" projects, where anybody can set up a social network, and the different systems should be able to interact with each other.
Mr Chisari said: "I compare it to the 1990's, when AOL and CompuServe (early Internet Service Providers) were both very popular, but were 'walled gardens'".
"Users on AOL could only e-mail other AOL users, same with CompuServe. Then, e-mail started getting popular and some people switched, but it forced people to ask why they were being walled off," he said.
Mr Chisari pointed out that both AOL and Compuserve "were forced to open up ... so that their users could participate with the rest of the world."
Both companies have since faded considerably, and Mr Bryant at Headshift thinks something similar might happen at Facebook.

I don't give a shit what you had for breakfast or if you're feeling sleepy... @#$! off!!!
If you have 1000 friends on facebook, then @#$! off too... you don't even communicate with 95 percent of those people. It's a status thing and is completely fucking retarded.
There's been countless job dismissals, divorces/breakups and other problems because of this stupid site.
I was a member, but it got out of control... I've been confronted by people because I ignored their friend request or deleted them. Why did I delete you, you ask? Well, you added me, then said nothing to me for months... that's why... probably because we are not friends. Ugh... sure, it's a great way to keep in touch, but so is email, skype and the good old fashioned telephone.
For those of you who haven't seen the South Park episode "You have 0 friends"... watch it... absolutely hilarious and very true.

My, my
Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from the little things; knows not the livid loneliness of fear, nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear the sound of wings.

I'm no longer checking facebook or adding pic's of my misadventures. It's a waste of time.

Dash Ate .... it took a very, very long time, but finally .... something we can agree upon.
Makes one hope for world peace, extinction of child poverty, and an end to hunger doesn't it?

Re: facebook
I think some of us are just pack rats, cant throw things out even if we don't use them anymore, can't 'delete friends' even if we having nothing to do with them anymore.
I have found it useful in the past to catch up with old friends when I might be in their town again however.
