WANTED: Vancouver aircraft share

Post by RoadRager »

Hi all,

Anyone know of any good fractional aircraft share opportunities in the Vancouver area? An aircraft I could also complete my training on (CPL).

Thanks...

It may just be me but not everyone looking for a share wants to be a slave to a corporate aircraft management system, or pay $100000 for part of a plane, $850 a month also seems steeper then needed

On a quater share that would be $850 x 4 partners = $3400 a month every month to manage one plane.

The idea is not to tie anyone down, quite the opposite actually, but you're right it may not be for everyone. The goal of TopFlight is to get folks into a top-notch aircraft and make it better, cheaper and easier than sole ownership. Monthly costs may vary based on aircraft type but in all cases will include storage, insurance, cleaning, initial and recurrent training. Here is a clearer breakdown of the costs - http://topflt.com/personal-shares/.

Actually, given what seems to be involved, $3400 a month seems reasonable. Heated storage alone would go anywhere between $300 - $700 a month, and the facilites they promise seems that it would put it on the higher range of that. Start to factor in having a staff so you have possibly a 24/7 availability for a turn-key operation (for example one person available who's job is to be there when you want them, airplane fueled, in and out of hangar, scheduling) eats up the money really quick even if you were paying them minimum wage. Tack on whatever arrangement they have with whomever provides the recurrent and initial instruction - I'd assume if you're going through this kind of expense you'd want a decent instructor.

This kind of operation ain't for everyone. Most of us after all are content to have a share in an aircraft where you put in your own elbow grease, hash out your own meeting about who has to pony up what for maintenance are all the fun things involved with sharing a machine with other people. If you gots the money and want to wash your hands of hassle I imagine that there's a market for that.

OF course if I was ging to fork out that kind of money per month to fly an airplane, you'd want to make sure you are indeed getting all those bells and whistles.

I'm looking for the same type of deal, something to make my commercial training more cost efficient with reduced restrictions on availability etc. I'm in Vancouver as well and am looking at several options, purchasing myself in which case I can set up the shares or fractional ownership in someone else's aircraft. If anyone is interested please contact me here first and email following.
Cheers
