Cog Test

Post by ACinterviewee »

So I did the famous cog test fairly recently and found it to be somewhat challenging. Just wondering how you guys and gals that made it felt after you did the test. Is the cog the one that gets most guys and gals? Looking forward to any feedback.
Thanks in advance!

I felt the same way but I wouldnt worry too much. I had to get her to reboot the computer at least 4 times while I was doing it because it kept freezing..... BTW, I bet 80% of their current pilots wouldnt likely pass it anyway!

I sucked at it and actually asked the woman if the "lag" she was talking about on the line in the middle test was like a day long, lol.
They still hired me so can't be that important.

When I was hired AC was using new hires to set the baseline for the cog screen.

I felt it a privilege and a duty to set that baseline as low as possible.

Of course for me it came naturally.

Your all welcome.

If you didn't try to out guess the cog you will have no problems.

Brickhead,

Are you referring to the cog or the pysch?

I felt fine.
they just ask questions that you answer honestly??
and for the rest of the test..well they show you what to do , you practise..and then go for it. it is mostly quick thinking and coordination.

I personally did not find it hard. And really the key is to go and be relax.
sorry i have a different opinion...!there was nothing to it.

Just the cog.

For you guys that thought it was easy. Did you have any pre knowledge of cog screens. Did you get any advise or told what to expect before hand?

For someone who doesn't really know what a cog screen is all about it is pretty hard to evaluate your own performance. If you can't evaluate your performance then it is pretty hard to feel positive about it. The tendency is to worry.

I's say that sound like a pretty normal response to me.

I disagree. When you do the test, you do the best you can knowing that is all that it expected of you.

The people who worry about it and try to second-guess what is happening are probably the ones who fail it.

If you can walk and talk and fly a plane, there is no reason to fail a cog test.

Actually it was a damn simple test, was like playing pong with a light pen! The psyc tests were the dumbest bloody tests I have every had to do. I did research on these types of tests and they are not designed for intial information, thye are designed for a individuals baseline not a group!

Personally I don't agree that it was easy.. I found it quite challenging....mostly because the instrument is so poor... deciding people's careers on a poorly acting light pen, and a keyboard that doesn't respond... basically if you have been playing computer games all your life, you'll probably do well. If all you can do currently is fly a multi million dollar jet down to hard minimums, you're not the person Air Canada is looking for..... (sarcasm)..

Wow, is it just me but can you not see the performance (all good) that these test are missing ? Sounds and looks like a pretty basic conflict just reading the guys that do work together at AC talking here... WTF , great job AC on missing most of the true pals (cant say gals) that can fly and still be human !

Tank god for compluters and money,

Byte it !
