I think the onus is on you to read the fine print. My understanding is that if you are terminated by the company, the bond is nul and void and the company takes the hit-- the intent behind a bond is to keep you from splitting, and that is fair. Otherwise, unscrupulous companies could terminate you in the 11th hour of the bond and make money from this!

It all depends on the wording of the contract. I don't mind paying a small fee to get legal advise for piece of mind . As always in this industry CYA .

It dependes on the contract. With the ones that I (or close friends)have been part of, you are on the line if you quit or are fired with just cause. The company is only on the line if you are furloughed. However if you are called back prior to the expiration of the contract the bond or contract will continue (my actual experience). It will be clearly stated in the contract.
