I guess I would have check how many hours I have accumulated before enrolling in this flight as an FO. And also learn more about the rules of my airline.

You don't get a choice young jeppesen. You do what the airline tells you. If the wheels fall off you fix it.

Okay Pika, I'll bite. How can you defend that kind of behavior from a major airline like Delta? I find it disgusting. Seems everytime someone has a beef with an airline, you jump in and defend their actions? Keeping pax cooped up in a plane for 7 hours is NOT Okay! The airline should be paying for their hotel rooms, and supplying them with passes on the airline for the next year. Airlines seem to just do whatever they want. The pax are secondary. It's a service industry, and this kind of service is WRONG!

What part of my post did you misinterpret as defending their actions? Can you please provide quotes from my previous posts that support your claim?
Reality is when you are dealing with a plane full of pax one doesn't just wave a magic wand and make vouchers, transportation, accomodation and future flights magically appear.

Okay, so you don't defend it. Do you think what Delta did was Okay? How would I deal with them? I'd have deplaned them. You?

Probably a good thought. Sure wouldn't want to be on that airplane, though.

Compared to the repercussions of those actions your 7 hours on board would be much more enjoyable I'm sure.

To bad North America does not have a train system like most of Europe, then we could never have to deal with the nightmare airline flying has become....especially on the ground be it in the terminal or on the airplane stuck for hours.

Except of course when you needed to cross an ocean. Or send time sensitive material. Or when certain groups disrupt train service.

Crossing the ocean is the worst part of flying.

But looking at airline flying today versus say fifty years ago it has gone to hell in a handbasket as far as being a pleasant experience.

Pika, next time I send or get time sensitive material that is shipped by air I'll ask the meterial how it was treated and how it liked the flight.

One of the results of all these measures taken after 9/11, is that now as a passenger, you are a suspicious person, liable to be jailed for just farting in a plane, or complaining about lack of service.
Of course these bankrupt US airlines find it convenient to behave worst than third world airlines.
As a consequence, they are experiencing a huge loss of business travel, as Americans are turning to business jet travel, and international travellers are avoiding the US.
Conventions are now moving to Europe, Dubai, Kuala-Lumpur, etc...
Fortress America is hurting the economy...
So many people have been refused flights to the US, that many corporations are boycotting all travel with any US based carrier.
As for me, I will stay away from that country as long as I can, probably forever.
