A degree is worth getting for sure...definitely worth the time/cash investment.
I don't know about that particular degree though...also, Empire is an expensive school to learn at. Many other cheaper places out there that will be able to get you finished quicker.
Of course, this is my opinion, and others will tell you different.

I did the program, but it was much cheaper when I went through it.

Going to university is not cheap at all. And neither is flight training. However, if you were to go to UWO, it would be just as expensive (for me it turned out to be much cheaper) than to go to some other university and do the flying on the side. Ask any pilot out there who has a degree and who is flying... it's not cheap no matter how you do it.

The good thing about university programs is that there are ample opportunities for scholarships. I received over $20,000 over the 4 years, so for me, it was definetly worth it and I would still recommend the program to anyone today.

i live in ottawa and i want to be a pilot and because ppl say that u have to have a degree in plus of your flight training to get hired with An airline in the future so after my researchs in Pilot Career Centre i found that the UWO is the one that satisfied my requires. any other oppinion or advice from you will count alot for me, and thanks alot.

I would recommend, if you are able to, staying home (cheaper) and completing flight training in your area while going to U Ottawa or Carleton if you want a degree as well. This way, you'll also be able to pick a degree you want.
Another option is Confederation, Sault, or Seneca colleges because the flight training is completely free, and you get a diploma in aviation.

All you need is completion of high school to the University entrance level.

Canadian Airline Transport Pilot licence
University degree or college diploma

Jet and/or glass cockpit experience

by the way i am gonna choose the Seneca College because its the one that offers a fully loaded degree as well as the commercial license and a frozen ATP. and its the closest one from ottawa. tnk yall

Many pilots @ Air Creebec are getting in @ AC with no diploma.....With the baby boomer trend & pilot shortage coming up, they are going to need whoever they can get..

Yes and no. Flight training is done in the last 3 years of the program. But remember, it's basically a 4 year degree so I suppose they stretch the flight training a bit to coincide with it. The idea is just to have the ME/IFR by the time you're finished the degree.

To me, putting yourself through flight school is much like going through university. Its a major time and finacial comittment over a few years and for an airline to list a university degree as a min requirment is bogus! Sure it looks good on a resume and I can understand more if you would like to be a friggen astronaut. When I was paying my way through training my folks paid for me to go to university part-time for a year to take any courses I was interested in. They were interesting but unfortunatly it was just a distraction and a waste of time and money:( Dont think i'm calling people silly for earning a university degree and pursuing a career in flying, just sucks to hear of people plowing through 4 years of university/college in subjects they dont even care about because they THINK they NEED it. It is my understanding that even Air Canada has been hiring persons with no 'post secondary' education, times they are a changin'
But I sure hope if ever i'm on one of them Airbuses and shit goes down that at least one of the crew has a Bachelor of Administrative and commercial studies...
